A rule by the majority doesn't really mean any fairness to all or any of those things. You might want it to mean that but not necessarily. The rule of the people (majority) because no one will agree on any one thing. The rule of most does not imply a common good for all. We can see here and in many states where the majority was very wrong. It did not protect the rights or freedoms of some deemed not human, or lesser forms of human. So a democracy it's not all it's cracked up to be. Very good rules that protect freedoms, rights, etc is much better. Let's say that perfect piece of law was written down, good luck getting everyone (democracy to believe in it or abide by it); that's your democracy.

I was born and raised in a part of England that was rough poor and affectionately known by the locals as the backside of Britain. It used to be an area of steel workers, miners, engineering and ship building. The reason I am stating this is our country has had Islamic extremists long before 9/11 ever happened. This is when the Pakistani people first started to arrive or at least in my area. The first ones would come legitimately even going as far as buying a house so the initial response from the locals was welcoming because they were adding to the economy. I was a child of 8 but even back then we did not trust them. After living in that house for a month, two more women and 5 more men arrived to live in this typical 2 up 2 down street house. They made life so bad for their neighbours with the smells which where horrific. They caused trouble and serious unrest for the neighbours until they just couldn't take it anymore so they sold their house and guess who bought it ding ding we have a winner and one of the women and a man then bought that house and this would happen right down the street until not one local owned any of those houses they turned it in a Pakistani only area. They did this right across the area in which I lived. I moved away when I was 25 but nearly all the immigrants that are landing now are been sent to the same area. This area has no jobs no prospects no homes and no money and yet they have to watch immigrants get what they have had taken away. Immigration should be treat as person on person only and not by unknown conflicts
