Led by CJ McCollum’s 37 points (franchise record for a Game 7) and Damian Lillard’s 13 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, the Trail Blazers defeated the Nuggets 100-96 in Denver to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 2000 NBA Playoffs. Nikola Jokic paced the Nuggets with 29 points (11-26 FG), 13 rebounds and 4 blocked shots in the losing effort. The Trail Blazers will face the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals with Game 1 set for Tuesday, May 14th at Oracle Arena in Oakland at 9:00p.m. ET on ESPN.

Unfortunately, Jokic was the only one who showed up in game 7. The Spurs are a team coached by maybe the greatest coach ever and always fight in the playoffs regardless of their seed. They're like the third youngest team in the NBA and are about to get younger and stronger when MPJ comes back from injury, and all their guys are gonna get better. They also got 14 games of playoff experience and turned up the heat in the playoffs. At times they sat for weeks on top of the western conference ahead of GSW.

This game feels somewhat analogous to Game 7 of the 2016 Finals. 1. small city going against higher seeded medium sized city in playoffs. 2. A home win in game 6 forces a game 7 after the team was down 2-3. 3. A lot of back and forth action in the first 3 quarters, and the away team is down by a point heading into the 4th quarter. 4. clutch chase-down block late 4th quarter. 5. clutch basket and free throw in the final minute. 6. Missed 3 in final seconds by the losing team. 7. Overall low scoring game. 8. 4 point clutch win for the away team. 9. the celebration of players and staff members running off the bench after the buzzer. 10. C.J. McCollum played like he was a true All-Star today when lillard struggled shooting. He was the key player to Portland advancing to the conference finals. On the one hand, Denver had some growing pains in this game and really throughout the playoffs, but they're clearly a team to be reckoned with for the future.

With that said, what a great series by both teams and maybe the best playoff series in the last 10 years at least. Not to mention, this 7-game battle has saved IMO what has been an overall boring NBA Post season(not counting the very good Raptors/Sixers series as well) here in 2019.
