“He builds because riding is also a part of his expression. It becomes this full picture where he doesn't just build for other people to enjoy-he builds it because he also needs to express himself in that way through his riding.” - Fanie Kok, Hylly’s brother-in-law
Matt Hunter went to South Africa to ride some local trails in Karkloof before moving on to the Drakensberg. What he found was a reminder of what a connection to homeland means and how people can express it, through the eyes of local trail builder, Hylton Turvey. The end result shows us all that the fruit of any trail builder’s devotion is a connection to the trail, the ride, and more stoke for riders to enjoy.
NOTE: This video is a combination of multiple days riding in both Karkloof, on trails Hylly built, and footage of the crew exploring new trails together in the foothills of the Drakensberg.

Since publishing this video, we've noticed some pretty ugly comments on an array of issues pertaining to the featured region. To be clear, we strive to create inclusive digital spaces predicated on shared passions, not deliberately polarizing dialogue and hate speech. Our intentions of this stoke-inspiring film are pure, and for these reasons, we've disabled commenting. We simply refuse to play host to a forum that lends itself to negativity in any way. This film, after all, was made to bring people together and to inspire anyone that's ever even thought about riding a bike. And while we're honestly sad that this even needs to be said, today has proven the necessity for being resolute in our stance supporting basic human decency: Specialized, and everyone involved in the making of this film, unequivocally believes that every single human life is equal, priceless, and worthy of compassion-regardless of sex, gender, race, color, religion, creed, or difference.
Or even more simply: Quit being an asshole online-You're ruining it for everybody.
