Margaret River is awesome - my favourite trails in WA - between Wharncliffe, Compartment 10 and the Creek Trails there is plenty to keep you busy and they are all so close together you can ride them all in one day. For XC stuff, Middle Earth is well worth checking out too and it is only a short drive to the Meelup Trails at Dunsborough which are great (and are right next to my favourite beach - Meelup). There is a bike shop/café called the Hairy Marron that is near the Rotary Park (this is a good place to start rides from). They hire good bikes (ebikes too!) and would be the place to talk to.
