Trail Riding With The NineBot Es4 Scooter?

I bought a Non folding es4 without rear suspension. Stock it rode rough. I modified mine to ride ALOT smoother and nicer. I cut up a door mat. Cut the material to exact deck dimensions, sanded the edges smooth and finally used 4 heavy duty zip ties to mount it to deck. The material used was a rubber shock absorbing, cushiony/spongy type matierial. It was 1 1/4 inches thick (1.25 inches thick). I recommend 1.25-2 inch thick material. Too thin its a waste of time. It made a massive improvement in ride quality!! It's very cheap$ + pretty simple. I recommend this to all es4 scooter owners; you will be amazed if you do this simple modification.

Sounds very creative and I think that's pretty cool. The other area where the ride feels rough is through the handle bars. When the front tire hits a bump, you'll definitely get a bit of kick back in the handle bars. I really curious about the inmotion L9 on indiegogo. It has dual suspension and marketed range higher than the Ninebot max. It's also much cheaper right now at $549.

@corpus I forgot about this video. I got a range of 20km when going full speed of 30kmh, but if I took it easy at 15kmh, I could get a range of about 35km.

@@bennyboyslackin Can't use it in the rain. It malfunctioned until it dried out. Then I sold it and the person who bought it started to have battery problems. It stopped recognising the external battery. He took it in for a warranty repair and it worked fine, but then not long after started having the same problem not recognising the external battery.

Tip, for rattling wrap plastic tubing with wire inside that tubing around your spring...hit any arts and craft store :)

You're welcome. I did tons of research on scooters for decided this scooter. I went on a much group ride on this same trail with the scooter but its durability really held well despite having a plastic platform. I've actually got rid of this scooter to replace it with an electric bike that can handle trails much better. If I were looking for long distance electric scooter with no intentions of going offroad then this is definitely the scooter you'll want.

Not really a good way to do so I would recommend replacing and upgrading the tyres to either off road ones or slightly bigger ones for more grip and improved comfort 👍

Please choose something else! A Levy or Levy Plus would be better than the ES1/2/4! The ride quality matters! The Ninebot ES series was really designed for Asian roads where they're smooth with very few cracks/bumps. In American roads, you're going to run into bad ride quality and even maintenance issues!

Great video! Just curious since the weight effects how fast you can go, can you tell how much your estimated weight ?

At the time I think I weighed ~170lbs. I remember not having any problems hitting top speed. I also never had to suffer from large hills which is where you'll probably see a greater impact on your speed/power. If anything weight just makes the motor work harder to maintain top speed on flat terrain which than has an negative effect on the battery.

Here's a tip: stand as far back on the board as you can. Placing more weight on the rear makes a huge difference.

How much do you get with the extended battery? Was this scooter the new ES4 2019 version? Or the old Es4?

I didnt record the range or pay much attention to it on this ride. But i believe it was around 14 miles. Which is 2 miles less then what I got on my range test video of about 16.3 miles. This scooter is the 2019 es4 model.

ElectroRides How much range do you get off the adaptive battery alone. I heard this new 2019 edition has better battery management & charge. But what is the deal with this extra atached battery? Are you getting 16miles with this adaptive battery on? Or just 16 miles for the scooter alone. This helps me so much because im trying to get the new 2019 version you have. But im still confused about that extra battery, how does it work? Can you just install an extra battery to extend the range when the scooter itself dies off? Or how does this battery work & better improve milage?

@@glamorsocial7081 So with the the external battery was able to achieve 16.3 miles using its highest speed mode of 19-20mph. I got little almost 18 miles using the second mode which goes 16mph top. The batteries are swappable. If you buy the Es4 which comes with the external battery you can buy another battery and swap out the battery give you another 8 miles when using the highest Super mode. It tskes about 2-3 minutes to swap out the battery. If you're scooter diea, swappping the external battery will only give 8 miles, but the full 16 miles because dont forget that the scooter as an internal battery. I can't compare older models and the nee 2019 models, unfortunately I can only say based on the current 2019 models.

So theoretically if i were to use the scooter without the external battery i would be able to achieve 8 miles on Super mode(19mph) and 9 miles in normal mode(16mph). Also keep in mind that my weight is about 175lbs.

ElectroRides Oh okay now i get Combined Epg is 16 at 8ah & 8ah. Now what happens if the battery inside the scooter dies. You can simply snap on an extra battery pack & the scooter will run for 8miles? I heard that both batteries don't work simultaneously like some people think. The extra battery pack i believe automatically takes over the scooter for 8miles Onces the scooters stem battery depletes. Now im very worried about ninebots because this company and particularly these folding scooters, Are notorious for frying the controllers that manage pretty much both speed & power out put, I really hope you got a good warrantee on it. I mean is all over the web these folding scoots from nine bots look sleek & light, But when it comes down to the dam heart of the scooter the controller gets fried quick. Many people whont even reach 50-100 miles of usage before it fries others report it as well at 100-150 miles. And many have had bad luck at below 50miles their controllers fry. Thats why they lost the contract to lime scoots.

I bought the hiboy max and it’s top speed is 19 mph on a full charge it doesn’t go past 19 even if I go down hill. How fast can you get yours es4 and down hill how fast does it go

It's the same for the ES4. Ninebot uses software to limit the scooters power when reaching top speed. The scooter automatic breaks when your going down hill. I remember when I owned my ES4 it used to have a super aggressive break when you reach top speed and it was really annoying. But eventually that got it fixed and the breaking was smoother while preventing you from going past top speed of 19/20mph.

The speedometer comes from data recorded on the Gopro which is gps based . It's been a while since I've used it but I think your suppose to give it some time after turning it on to have it connect properly, which I did not do.

That is camera not synced with the refresh rate of the LED display. You can see this only through the video but in person you don't see this.

Suprisingly nothing got damage, the very slight misalignment of the wheel and handlebar mentioned at end may had already been their and I haven't noticed. I ended up going on a second trail ride afterwards for 15 miles and it was still in one piece. For a scooter made of plastic I have no idea how it still stayed together

I've upgraded to MTB helmet since then, it's so much better then the motorcycle helmet lol. I got the one from Demon off Amazon. I agreed that that Moto helmet was a bit much but it was what I could afford at the time. I can say that the helmet saved my life 3 times when I was learning to ride an electric skateboard so I don't regret it.
