My son and I replaced that same part on my 2004 Trailblazer, and I can say that we did not have to cut the bar to get it disconnected. The proper tools is a star socket on a rachet and a 7/8 box wrench on the nut. And WD40 helps to loosen the nut.

The old drop links looked like they are aftermarket ones. Most of the original ones didn't have the grease zerks. I replaced the drop links all the way around on my 2003 Trailblazer a little bit ago and the original ones didn't have any. The ones I put on did.

The OEM dont have the nut to hold the shaft or grease fittings. Hope the aftermarket were not from detroit axle, I bought all 4 and they are junk, the shafts are much smaller and work themselves lose. (they look like toys next to the OEM part) only put the front on and less then a month later replaced them, they make good trash can filler.

@@tomr3422 No, the ones I got and put on made the original ones look like toys. They were much thicker than the original ones. I can't remember the brand names. I ordered them on line from an American manufacturer.

I put on AC Delco professional replacements. The newer design of these have the zirk fittings and the 18mm nut and optional hex key.

I have to apologize to you. I just replaced the rear sway bar end links on my 04 Trailblazer today. Yes I used WD40 but the nut on the top left was so hard to get to yes I pulled out my grinder and cut it off.
