This works on my dewalt 3 speed drill. Fully tightne the chuck clock wise . Then slightly turn the chuck counter clock wise you should hear a single click. This should lock the chuck and stop any drill bit slips . Hopefully helps . Keep up the great videos 👍🏻

Some Metabo drills come with a two collar system. The rear collar is bigger diameter but not as wide, and holds the chuck while you tighten the front ring. This allows them to be used on drills without a brake function. I have one such chuck that I put on a large mains 240V drill and it grips very tight. In fact sometimes I have to use gas pliers on the rear ring to get the bit out. Bit of a faff but it's a beast with large bits.

When I'm drilling and it grips to the metal, I pull the drill out the hole, send it full bollocks fast as I can with very little pressure. 9 times out of 10, its the drill bit catching on a burr as its cutting. If you full send it with little pressure, it's normally enough to take the burr off and carry on drilling.

Hi Chris.... I have not tried it myself because I just thought of it. Try to grind the drill bit shaft in three spots where the chuck seats onto it. That should help them not to chew up so bad. Grip allot better. Please let us know if it does help. Keep up the great work and helpful videos.

Hi mate I've had the prob.with drills slipping I've ground three flats to my bits to locate the Chuck Collette.

replace the chuck ? not sure of the brand but there are larger chucks out there; i got mine from a engineer supply place to replace the broken plastic keyless one

Great video Chris. I have dewalt drills and they don't seem to last all that long in the harsh environment of fitting on sewage works. Best drills I've found are Giss cutline tin tipped ones the mac tools van sells

Makita drill are by far the best if you can afford to spend the money. Or just buy drill bits that have a hex shank rather than being round. I'm gonna get some as i have this issue too.

Yeah, guns still doing fine. I am only using for replacing M14 and M16 nuts and bolts. Hell, it is loud though.

Every drill I’ve ever owned had the same problem. I use Makita these days and they’re as good (or bad) as any. I’m not sure there’s a huge difference between brands tbh so we just have to put up with life’s little challenges I think.
