Great video Matt and awesome trailer. I would put a tiny bit of grease on your ball hitch to help prevent premature wear of the ball and hitch. You can always wipe it off after each use. Thanks for uploading.

Nice looking trailer Matt. A good tip i found when reversing my boat is keep your eyes on your mirrors and if you see too much trailer in one mirror steer towards it for example too much trailer in your left mirror steer left to correct it. Using this method made maneuvering my trailer a breeze, i actually enjoy reversing the trailer now ! Another thing you might want to consider when winching the car in or out is to sit in it just incase the toe hook pulls out. My dad owned a vehicle recovery business and had this happen a number of times. Saying that Porsche tow hooks are probably better than most !

lol my dad does the same thing for the jetskis. he puts the boots on each tire along with a tire stop with the ball locker with the thing that goes in the ball locker along with 6 locks on the gate and an old car we have parked in front and a steel cable attached to a steel post so it aint going nowhere lol. great looking trailer mat congrats.

Masterlock has a pretty bad rep for making sub standard locks. There is lots of videos about it. So I would exchange them for some higher quality ones.

just noticed you struggle with the removal of the ratchet from the ratchet strap, just remember to pull the internal handle and open the ratchet to 180 + degrees, it lets the hub free wheel

+Matt Moreman About the tire of the trailer another option if you want to, is to raise the PSI of the tires to the Max or 7pounds over the max.. and leave it like that. We used to do this at the dealership that i used to work for the new cars that they were parked for so long until they were sold.. and for avoid damage the tire we were doing that.. is obvious that before you use it again you've to bring back the PSI to specs.

one thing that helped me backing a trailer up was to put my hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. That way you turn the steering wheel the way you want the trailer to go.

2:39 Gen-Y sells locks that program to your car key. It mechanically programs your key. Just insert the key in the lock, twist it a couple of times and you’re all set.

Matt, a. always "X" cross your ratchet straps. b.securing thru the wheels is the most safe, as frame/chassis is in suspension. They make soft double loupe ended straps for this purpose, that you combine with the ratchet straps. I have secured thousands of vehicles for ro/ro ocean vessels so I hope I now whereof I speak.

Matt- try steering with your hands on the bottom of the wheel when backing. Moving the bottom to left is the top to the right: the direction needed to turn the trailer to the left, and of course right is left which is right if that makes sense.

Nice video, trailer and cars! Tip: while backing up don't turn the steering wheel so much. Just turn a little and hold that turn a while instead of turning a lot for a short period.

Yes, I did. The Raptor really needs a rear suspension upgrade otherwise it sags a ton.

I was just curious... in the video when you lower the trailer onto your hitch you say "I've never seen the tongue weight be more than 200lbs" which surprised me because looking at the trailer my guess was it weighs about 3000lbs. Later in the video when you revealed that the trailer had a car in it... I was very surprised because with a car in the trailer it must at least 6000lbs or more. So using the 10-15% tongue weight rule of thumb you should have at least 600lbs hitch weight. Maybe the little scale on the hitch is stuck or you should be pulling your car further forward in the trailer but something seems off for sure??

+Michael Esposito The trailer is right at 2,000lb. + the car at about 3,200lb. Tahoe does well towing it. Although I averaged about 9mpg at 70mph up to the mountains.
