@@scuss2 I was impressed with Rory's control over the throttle when he had trouble making that climb. He would attempt the obstacle with lots of throttle, but when he field and it slid back he would let off immediately so when the rears bounced back down they weren't still spinning. See 13:48, but there are numerous examples while he was attempting that climb. There was lots of risk of snapping a rear axle shaft in this case, but Rory knows the limits of the equipment and how to prevent breakage. And he seems to not let his frustration get the better of him.

I was going to suggest that as well, but with the caveat that welding on a foam filled cage later, will be exceedingly horrible mess 😅 But alas, filling it with sand - the even better option to deaden singing tubes - is not viable on a vehicle 😉
@calholli8 күн бұрын
You could probably tap a little plastic wedge into your hitch and quiet it down that way too. Shim it with something. Maybe even drill a hole and weld a nut onto it.. and snug a bolt down onto your hitch.. to keep it from rattling. Just weld a handle on your bolt so that it's toolless. easy fix really.

@@harrywalker968 I didn't catch what year JK this is built on but assuming it's a stock engine it's either the 3.8 or 3.6 V6. The 3.8 is....not well loved, while the 3.6 (the pentastar) is actually not all that bad. Neither is remotely close to the 5.7 liters of the classic old 350, and honestly by "small block" I expect most people today are referring to something in the LS family since the old school sbc hasn't been popular in ages. Regardless, at no point in this video was a lack of power a problem that I could see. Lack of grip and wheelbase maybe, but Rory is too good a driver to just mash the peddle and prey. Gearing beats HP every time in Moab.

@@harrywalker968 Oh, and just being the same displacement w/fewer cylinders does not automatically mean more torque. Using the example mentioned above, a 2000 F150 302 was rated at 290 ft-lbs and a 300 at 260 ft-lbs. The straight 6 has some advantages but I don't think I can claim it is inherently "better" than a V8.
