@volvo09

Yep, you help someone out, yet it's suddenly an inconvenience to return something and they just don't do it, when that same help was so needed. Just by looking at the vehicle you can tell the owner never went off road, and expects service like roadside AAA, once i'm moving again, it's done.... Big thumbs down to that vehicle owner.

I have five patents. To patent the tie-rod clamp, he would have to prove there is no prior art or no device of the same type. Or, he could attempt to patent a device that improves existing devices of the same type. In either case, you have a video demonstrating he did not invent the tie rod clamp, so he cannot patent the device. If he is allowed a patent pending status, you can dispute that status by providing the US Patent Office with the video as proof he did not invent the tie rod clamp. At that point, they will not issue a patent.

My father at the time 1936 a Master Carpenter with a teaching degree. The Math and Carpentry Shop instructor; in the Highschool of Sharlo, Montana. One of his students a Polio victim took on a growing streak as teenagers do. Every few months needed new crutches; dad sat down at the kitchen table drew up plans for the adjustable crutches. Hickory wood of choice school shop had a steamer took a couple days to make them. Wow; kids Grandfather a Medical Doctor was greatly impressed. Ask Dad if he was willing to submit the plans to the American Medical Association. Dad agreed for the "Good of man kind." WW2 1945 New York City a hospital a Surgeon patching up what was left of hundreds of medicated injured military and Merchant Sailors. Learned of the plans stole the 2 set of plans in existence from the A.M.A. archives took out a patent. Created factory to mass produce produce. Google it you'll find this information to be correct. Where was my dad; 1944-1946 a Navy C.B. rebuild the island of Guam. When dad got back to the States; the doctor had stolen the plans he learned. He still had the original plans photos of the kid using them. He just didn't have the money to travel to N.Y.C. to beat the crap out of a now millionaire thief doctor.

How to get a patent: 1. Make an engineering drawing of your device (Rudy could do that for you) 2. Write a description of what it does and what the benefit is 3. Hire a patent attorney, who will do the research whether it is patentable or not. If patentable, he/she will apply for a patent with the US Patent office PS. If Barnes has one and it is not patented, you can still go forward, but tell your attorney about it. If it is patented , you will have to prove that yours is substantially different and better than theirs, which may be difficult.

Rory. I have went through the patent process and have received patents, and have others that are patent pending. My advice is that it isn't worth it. Average cost is $350k. Then you have to defend it in court. Make your design, sell them on your website, and be happy with how it works out. A lot less headaches, and you will make more money in a shorter time frame. Besides, I have seen similar items from others which will be found during the discovery.

Aaaannnd..copied by a Chinese company..instantly. a friend lost a fairly lucrative online business she had. Copied by the Chinese..poof..business ended 3 months after. A shame because she was a really good kid who worked hard to get it off the ground the first year. As soon as it was relatively profitable..they stole the idea and massively under sold her. The next year was hell and nothing good came from it.

I looked at patenting something and was told if the idea was already shared (outside of the company developing it where it would be protected by confidentiality rules) it was much much harder to get it approved. I think your advice is by far the best way forward.

Bull shit. I have a patent for a process & tooling in a narrow market. $4-6k. Done. Very specific rules though, and because it was released to the public prior to staking a claim, it would be up to a jury now. That dude is a piece of garbage.
@bshinn4884
@bshinn4884 Күн бұрын
I have benn involved in multiple patents dealing with commercial dehumidification. It didn't cost 350K. Didn't cost anywhere near that, even with legal assistance. At MOST, you're talking 25K TOPS. Usually somewhere between 2K-10K depending on complexity. Rory's invention, probably 5 or so. MAYBE a bit more, but definitely not 350K. That's an insane price right there. I hope you aren't paying that. I REALLY hope you aren't the Rivian owner 😂
@LillyRocket
@LillyRocket Күн бұрын
No, the average cost for you may have been 350k, but its not for everybody and certainly not for an item like this tie rod clamp. Ignoring the issue and selling the thing may end up costing him a lot if somebody else patents it, maybe sells the patent and the new owner sues Rory over selling the clamp, maybe not even knowing that he is the designer of this specific variant of this. Sure he can prove he designed it, he has footage of it. But once you're in litigation, the money drain is ON. Provided a patent for something that has indeed been done in various variations can even be claimed.

Maybe all his mods to the Rivian also impacted it. That device you created to hold the weld together is very cool though....ingenious. I did get some anti-EV vibes though. Love my Rivian.

For those wondering… This is a custom job done by Apocalypse Manufacturing in Florida part of their “Apocalypse Nirvana”. Someone spend a pretty $130k for this bad boy but its a Gen1 R1T so it only get 320 miles of range and with all that extra weights probably 295 miles of range.

Dude a former friend of my Pops stole a design from him in the 70s for a two piece tree stand that we made for him he patented it and sold it to a company for a ton of cash. Look into patenting it trust me.

I saw someone start a syphon with a shop air line blower, and had to try it myself. It's the easiest way I've tried so far - pipe from tank down to can, air line in alongside the pipe, hand over the gas cap, one quick squirt, job done. Also, I know bad taste isn't illegal, so the rest of that thing probably is ok on the road, but how the hell can you get away with driving on the road with those window tints?! We're allowed 15% max on the front windows where I live, those looked nearly opaque!

Yes, your clamps have been patented. You can find them in the hardware store and the plumbing department for pipe seal. Pipe leak, seal and also the US. Navy's been using them on their submarines for years. God bless you rock That guy is out of luck. Sorry, that's what happens when karma bites you in the butt. God bless you all love you rock.I'm glad you got a beautiful woman to be beside you❤❤❤

No good deed goes unpunished. Good trail fix & nice to see the tie rod clamp did it's job. It no wonder recovery people can be a little defensive about their tools. Your idea gone in the blink of an eye. Thanks for sharing
