Trail Mater

We added a hitch to the antique wrecker build, also some finish work on the fenders. Then setting a mock-up engine in for fitting and design. Yes we are going with an LS engine for fitment reasons and ease of replacement and upgrade parts. We decided to pull the engine out of Ol Blue to get some repairs done to it. We were going to put our spare engine in when we found a broken bellhousing on the transmission. So we overnighted one from @SummitRacing to get it repaired. Once on we ran into issues with the torque converter fitting. So we will be back to having all this sorted out at a little later date. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Hahaha this proves exactly what I’ve thought about this whole build . Yes they’ve done some VERY NICE metal work on it , but it’s being built as a farce of sort . It could have a 4 banger in it and be all the same . Rory should practice what he preaches , IF THIS THING were being built for actual use . You want an engine with TORQUE not another wal mart special you see on every street corner . lol! If anyone remembers it , Rory also declined an ls going in mater , when everybody was preaching at him to put one in . Robbie has FRED the big block FORD they always bash , but neither Robbie’s , nor Rory’s FORD have had even a fraction of the work done to them that mater or ol blue have had done . lol!!!

And they will never be able to do what Trailmater does. I can't believe you are defending the most worthless big block ever. The 460 of the 80's and 90's was so detuned and choked due to emissions it has laughable output numbers. If you've actually watched my videos you would know Trailmater has a big block for pulling with a standard and the gears I have in it. This on is going to have an auto, with more gearing options and lower axle gears. Therefore as you sit on your high horse laughing at the peasants you insult, they laugh at your ignorance of the actual situations these trucks are used in and the different ways they are set up... Thanks for watching.

Well you’re kinda getting the wrong concept to the comment , lol it’s not that I’m necessarily defending anything , just making a point that all things non Chevy are not necessarily the junk you label them to be ! lol ! The 46O big blocks powered many many trucks for many many years , and no , of coarse the one you have , is not gonna compete with mater , because as I stated , it’s not had even a fraction of the work to set it up as such . lol my point was simply , that here again , you’re putting the second engine , in blue , already replaced at least one in Mater, plus numerous other driveline parts , and had ANY of it happened to your ford , the comments would simply be , well it’s a sorry ford ! Lolol!! at his was even the case over someone gaggleyanked fuel line connection .on it . Lolol. It’s comical ! Is my point . And thanks for all the entertaining videos ! Love watching ! Carry on sir !!

What’s going to be interesting to see the outcome of , is Paul putting an ls in his wrecker ! lol! Evrything I’ve seen of it since he pulled out the big block , it’s wide open spinning and digging to have the same power . I’m just thinking it will be more short lived, and possibly not be quite as effective , being that it’s missing this LOW END TORQUE you spoke of ! We’ll see I guess with time sir !

Well at least Rory has done something cool with his life. Made some awesome rigs and making one more right now, not just being a bunch of keyboard warriors. Yeah he killed an engine in Trail Mater, he also completely owned it and didn't pretend there wasn't a judgment error, shit happens. As for busting parts anytime you ask what they are ask out of their equipment stuff is going to break, fact of life.

Because they are cheap and plentiful and SMALL they are narrow engines and fit into lots of small spaces.. Next cheapest power is the 5.7 Hemi, reliable powerhouses too..500 plus horse from a 5.7 with a cam swap and tune! Roughly 25% more cost than a LS .. Ford 5.0 Coyote is the most expensive and complicated modern engine to swap. Former Toyota Tech, now classic car collector and restorer for fun and profit...Never a Chevy fan but have a low mile 72 Chevelle SS 402 (buddy passed in the 90's and his family wanted me to have his car, since I worked on it,I refused but they dropped it off in my driveway,so I gave in)and very rare GMC Square body Sarge look it up Sarge! Plus, loads of Mopar vehicles 69-70 Charger 440&496 stroker (383 big block)..E bodies,C bodies..loads of engines as I rebuild them,my cousin does body, paint etc.I do engine/trans/diff things that make them go!

My brother had the same issue with a cracked trans bell housing on the Turbo 400 with a 205/203 doubler kit in his '79 K20 (it happened twice). After a little research we found that he was missing a brace that bolts to the bell housing/engine bolts on the passenger side, and runs back to the transfer case. Once we found and installed one he hasn't had any more problems. Hopefully your new thicker bell housing averts that, but you might want to look into adding a brace as well.

Regarding the tubing that supports the front of the hood, rather than having it welded directly to the front crossmember, weld plates on the bottom ends of the tubing that bolt to the crossmember. That would have made the engine installation easier and allow for future easier servicing of the front of the engine.
