@jothew1274 Жыл бұрын
Think he was asking what he should upgrade to b able to do it
@bigerniemccracken1882 Жыл бұрын
You are both correct. Rory is qualified to say when to stay off but also the guy was actually just asking what he could upgrade to be able to actually do them so it was sort of short and gatekeeper-y on Rory’s part by saying just stay off of them because people don’t know until they know- and if no one had upgraded anything until they knew what they were attempting wasn’t possible without modifying things then there would be no aftermarket or modifications anywhere - but also for as experienced as Rory is, maybe he got the feeling from a handful of things like making a vehicle shake around while someone’s under it for instance that even with the pocket to upgrade it some people still may not make the best situations out of some obstacles out there regardless of a rig that’s capable or not - but that also comes back to a guy can’t know until he learns so it’s sort of a stalemate there where I understand why he probably seems to have came off short and gatekeeper-y by saying it that way but also sort of understood why he did. (He could have just followed up the guys question with something like - in this form or like it is currently stay off the big obstacles and X Y Z is what is done to most of the rigs you see around able to handle them so it was a learning opportunity for the guy asking what he needed and maybe would give some idea of everything that was changed, all the work that went into them, or was typically required other than factory)

I agree with the advice at 3:25 that staying off the big obstacles in stock form (esp with a truck full of gear and 4? people) will prevent that damage but I think the customer was asking for advice on upgrades. If that's the case RCVs/Chromos+Joints and maybe BJIs should significantly reduce the risk of breakage at the weakest links. Excellent video and a very impressive repair in a complex recovery :)

Rory to back up perfectly to lift the Jeep, Rory to masterfully pull the broken part into place, to have brought the parts for the Jeep repair, Rory to have all the tools to make the repair, and when I had to laugh was when Rory asked for the air line which Mike sent down to Rory, and when Mike pulled that air line back up and let the line retract into place. Amazing and Rory then pulling the Jeep out of the hole; then pulling the Jeep wherever needed going out of the trails. Just perfect the way each step went.
