I grew up in Arizona and in the late 70's and early 80's. My friends and I all had 4 wheel drives and we would take off from school on Friday afternoon and not get back home until Sunday evening. It never got old. No cell phones or internet just our camping gears and guns. Our parents never worried either, my how times have changed. We would go to Rocky Point and camp out on Sand Beach, those days are gone.

Don't forget the snow! Northern AZ, gets a lot of snow. And Flagstaff never gets that hot in the summer.
@SuperSpectus9 ай бұрын
Yup! Every 1000 to 1500 feet of elevation gain takes you to a different biome, from Saguaro cactus around Phoenix (1600ft. elevation), to Pinyon/Juniper chaparral around 3500-5500 ft., to Ponderosa Pine along the Mogollon Rim (the largest uninterrupted stand of Ponderosa Pine in the lower 48 states) and the Bradshaws, to Douglas Fir and Blue Spruce at 9000 ft. along the Kaibab Plateau north of the Grand Canyon. There's even a patch of alpine tundra on the peaks of Mt. Humphreys and the San Francisco peaks, the edges of the blown-out volcano looming over Flagstaff! The inner basin of that mountain is definitely a destination to pencil in on TrailRecon's Arizona agenda! Just bear in mind that the season in which it can be visited is relatively short due to its elevation and sheltered nature.

One of my patients asked/said drone camera work might make you work a little easier. In San Diego drones made easy might help train you if you are interested. You can set the drone to follow you. You have such great footage, you are appreciated so don’t think this a dig, my patients just want more of your great travels

March 25th i was helping with the crown king scramble, and we had water flowing and water falls in the crown king area. I never went on trail that my 2wd f150 would have a problem. Still had snow on the ground as well as alot of big puddles on the road. It gives me a big smile to see the rain and flowing water. That saguaro with the weird arms looked very familiar, but I have only seen the ones able to be accessed by 2wd F150 and F250. But there are so many saguaros out there. There are so many wonderful trails in arizona.

Sycamore Canyon with its rare, two story lodge house is where I hope you're going as it takes a Rubicon and crawling to get there but is massively photogenic and rewarding to see. Don't forget other great Off Roads in AZ, such as traversing the Mogollon Rim or the 5 Cliffs that make up the Grand Escalante in N Arizona (Chocolate, Vermilion, White, Grey, and Pink Cliffs) / Utah
