I wasnt sure how to think about all of this, but now i am acutally in favor. Cedric was portrayed as somebody who changed beyond recognition and while you could argue that its a lame excuse that everything is ishmelgas fault, i think it makes more sense then any alternative. This also makes his choice in the aftermath more understandable. I dont think there is a better way for somebody to completly disappear from the front of the World then joining the snakes.

The thing that would have made Cedric dead to me would be if he doubled down on the "New World Order" bullshit. But the fact that he admitted to his stupidity here and actually wants to do better makes a HUGE difference. Lol And yes, I know Ishmelga played a part in how he changed, but at the end of the day, he still coveted Testa Rossa's power.

Well yeah, before the battle, you could see him try and shake off Ishmelga's influence to no avail, just like Ash did with his curse (Which caused him to shoot the emperor)

Cedric just wanted the strength to be better but he wasn't the type to go evil. He's very kind hearted Its just that Ishmaelga was able to use the curse to exploit his feelings and trauma gained from Testa-rossa. He's no different from Alan being influenced by the curse

@@fierytigergaming8112 Well thats kind of what the plot was about. A curse influencing innocent people to lust for war. Why should we be surprised that Cedric is no different from the other victims?

@@potatoesblink3299 It makes sense for the curse to take effect on people, since the Ironbloods were pretty much consumed by it (Even going as far as to execute Operation Birdcage to trap the SSS), and the symbol appeared in everyone's eyes when the Empyreal Fortress appeared

I went into this game hating Cedric and Rufus above all else. I came out...still hating Rufus, but...alright. Fuck it. At least Cedric had some reason behind his actions. And seems like he'll be put through the ringer and go through his fair share of ordeals if he wants anything to do with Shirley going forward.

@@mackeyboy5442 Of the cold steel subseries, sure, but there's already one game after CS4 called Hajimari no kiseki and the next major Trails subseries, playing in calvard, called Kuro no kiseki has its first game in development.

Why would you stop hating Cedric and hate Rufus? It makes no sense, I mean the sudden change and the curse certainly indicated that he was corrupted by the Vemellion Apocalypse when pilotting it. I still hate the brat all the same, never found myself hating Rufus though, like, why? He was following order

@@ongthingocbich7524 Not really, Cedric was a victim of Ishmelga the reason he fall to Ishmelga was his own weakness, and own sentiment of being powerless, originally Cedric wasn't a bad guy but his hatred toward himself allow the Ishmelga to take the better of him and made him lost sight of why he wanted strength in the first place, originally he genuily wanted strength for a good reason so that nobody will ever die because of him like Crow did. Rufus however was a piece of shit all by himself, nothing was controlling him all he did was on his own accord, all to reach his own personnal goal, he wasn't following order, he was just following his own ambition of wanting to surpass Osborne, and he has been plotting this for years now (the sole reason he become Crossbell's governor is because he knew a Divine Knight might appear in it and wanted it's power), not mentionning how much of despicable and disrespectfull guy Rufus is especially in Cold Steel 4. That's why his redemption arc in Hajimari works, no one was controlling him he was a twisted man at core and the fact everything was going as he planned further amplify his ego, in Cold Steel 4 he was utterly defeated for the first time despite being at his strongest point, finally making him question his actions, and in Hajimari he realises just how twisted he was, and has to comfront his own sins, even tough he knows he has gone to far and he might not be forgive (plus I like in Hajimari cause despite the fact he become a better man, he is still prompt to rely on dirty tactics and little schemes to get the job done, kind of an anti-hero and I think it's cool that he get redeemed and become better, but he is still not an honnorable kind Knight type of guy).

I would like to play this but the one thing I hated on Cold Steel 3 is: Rean: "Come to my aid, Vali-" Mysterious voice: "No need for that." And it happened like 3 more times. Seriously no need for an entrance like that just to introduce a character. Maybe I should comment on the main website so that the devs could further enrich the story and not just some class 7 reunino or introducing characters on the last minute saves

I honnestly think it worked very well for Laura, as it was like a throw back to how her father come to there aid in the Infernal Castle (heck this is even the same line), so for Laura I think it was fitting, but yeah it gets old when other member of Class VII start doing the same thing.

I curb stomped them with the combined strength of Rean and Laura. Breaking dawn! Radiant Phoenix Blade! That Knight battle was freaking annoying though.

One annoying part about some of these rivalries is the break mechanic. You break them and they just shrug it off and suddenly buff themselves. I don't even get a turn to wail on them while they're in break status.

As pitiful as Cedric is being, everything is ONCE AGAIN all Ishmelga's doing! Imagine what Cedric would be if Ishmelga never existed! All he is now is a puppet dancing at the end of the Ebon Knight's strings just like Franz and Gilith! And once you cut those strings, that puppet turns into a snake...!

Ishmelga can be seen as a representation of many different things that control and change people. Things made by man that end up controlling him: religion, nationalism, ideology. All these can change a person and control them.

@@dzus123 Yeah the thing that allows Ishmelga to control Cedric in the first place is his own sentiment of guilt after Crow's death, and hatred toward his own weakness, which makes him want power, Ishmelga just took advantage of that weakness making him lose sight of why he wanted power in the first place.

I honestly wish Cedric remained a douchebag to the end. This series is severely lacking in actually evil villains at the moment, and I rather like the idea of one of the more innocent characters becoming a total asshole as he grows older.

Don't forget that his power was limited when he managed to dispel Ishmelga's influence, since he mentioned that with this connect to the Empyreal Fortress' power, he likely would've destroyed them. The only thing that kept him fighting was his determination to see the rivalry through to the end, as was the oath he made as a "Knight of Blood and Iron"
