I actually played the fan patch version, and this comment doesn't contain spoilers for Daybreak but might be confusing in how I explain it: In Reverie, there were plot elements that made the story feel like it came from a different game, and aesthetics of some of the new characters made them feel out of place. The first Daybreak did a good job in blending those new story elements into the lore, like AI and ways artifacts are impacting newer technology,: the latter was always there, but it's more in your face in this game. Daybreak 2 in my opinion did a better job at explaining why these were plot elements we needed to pay attention to, furthering the series' long theme of the consequences of rapid development of human society. Even though this game didn't do too much as far as advancing the story, It does do an excellent job in showing why these story beats matter and why plot points going as far back as sky the third matter in the long run like the cult, artifacts, and parallel worlds.

I'm very excited to play this game and I really hope we get to be pleasantly surprised about how quickly we get the next game in the series too! The Kai no Kiseki trailers looked awesome!

Awesome review, thanks. I played some of the demo, really glad we have the fishing mini game again. I enjoyed the tailing mission, maybe I’ve been playing the Judgment games too much lol. It’s awesome we are getting the games faster now, hopefully not to long to the next one’s release.

Daybreak was my game of 2024! High hopes for this, despite knowing it might not completely live up to the first entry. I'm fine with mini-games, but I basically never like fishing mini-games, so that's annoying

yeah i think the reason so many questions are left unanswered is because kai no kiseki is ( hopefully) coming to the west either late this year or early next , and it will solve that problem. either way valentine's day cant get here fast enough , which is something i never thought I'd say. 🤣

I hope if we end up getting a third trails through day break that they take their time with it because even I was confused at how fast the sequel came out I thought it would have at least been a few years before we got a sequel

No worries! Just wanted to share that info! It's not even technically part of the Daybreak/Kuro series in Japan! It's called Kai no Kiseki, so who knows what it's going to be called here!

I have never played a single trails game, but I saw this video, and then I watched your previous one about trails through daybreak 1, and even though this may be what most fans call a bad entry point or the worst game so far review wise. It checks every single box for me out of all the reviews I have seen from all the other versions of the trails series games. I think I'll scoop up both the first and now preorder the second one. I have been converted.

Alert: my comment may contain a little spoiler of the game. I played this game (Asian Version) 2 years ago. Daybreak II consists of three main story chapters and three antagonists. If it were sold as three DLCs for Daybreak 1, with a reasonable price, it would easily receive a rating of 9 out of 10. However, by combining the three chapters and adding some mediocre or/and rough filler contents, then releasing it as a full price game, it is not good enough. It can only earns a 6.5 out of 10. Even so, it still manages to score above average, proving that it still has many outstanding qualities.

Although the main storyline of the game is hindered by these factors, Daybreak II still has outstanding qualities, such as the excellent Connection Event stories, the continuously improving hybrid battle system. (Speaking of which, Kai no Kiseki features an even MUCH better system; it is a masterpiece of hybrid battle systems. I hope it will be released worldwide soon.)

The only thing they really lack is the design of the dungeons, it needs improvement as soon as possible!!! I love Legend of Heroes but with every game having a hall for a dungeon is just sad.

I just feel like they need to give equal attention to every facet of the game. This is why we're having weird shifts on focus. We're basically seeing what the Tales Of series experienced when they had a much more aggressive release schedule. Some games were good and some games were bad.

This being a world that takes itself relatively seriously in a grounded manner, it kind of checks out that every dungeon is too often just a fairly normal-looking cave, catacombs, or building where it makes sense for everything to just be hallways. Humans do like building uninteresting hallways.

@War624 from what I understand Falcom has always done quick releases. Reverie, Daybreak 1 and 2 came out in back to back years in Japan while Kai (next Calvard game) took 2 years and released at the end of 2024

Don't we only get it in Japanese now? I mean, I started learning Japanese so that I could order the Japanese playstation versions. I am looking forward to this one to practice. So yeah, we got it, but also didn't for all of the people who don't speak Japanese.
