the turnbased combat is fantastic , but I was very underwhelmed with the field combat. Its so barebones that it doesnt feel that much different from the previous system where you 1 hit them from behind to get an adantage. Now you just hit them a couple of more times to get the same advantage effect.
@ThangDamMinh2 ай бұрын
Because it was never meant to be a fully action RPG. The field combat was a slightly more involved mechanic that makes the player work more to get that advantage. Trails is still a turn based RPG at heart
@dante198902 ай бұрын

@Jack_802 ай бұрын
thankfully he's not the bleeding heart rean is. rean was annoying it also annoyed me that despite all of the huge battles taking place in the cold steel series, hardly anyone ever dies. in this game there was an unexpected death right at the start, and at the end of chapter 1 there was an extremely unexpected death, of someone i expected to either join your party or at the very least pop up throughout the game. it adds so much, not knowing that everyone is safe from death like they were in cold steel. definitely prefer the combat of cold steel 4 and reverie, but i really like that there are deaths in this game that really adds a lot more intensity and emotion to the story.

@@Jack_80 cool guy Van isn’t annoying? He’s an edgy douche who would leave you out to dry if he wasn’t compensated for something. Loves his car more than his relationship with others. Rean was easier to put up with, and maybe that’s because he actually had a decent backstory. Daybreak is overhyped compared to previous arcs anyway. It feels like it was written by someone with a severe lack of interest. You start the game, and what happens? You collect the first Genesis. Great, now you're told that you will be doing this seven more times. Every story beat, every build-up, every moment of tension is basically pre-ordained to be tied to collecting the next Genesis. What a snooze fest. Oh and another mafia to deal with, that hasn’t been done before. Then finally, there’s the fact that I just want to get enveloped in a fictional world and here I am listening to something like “white supremacy” or some anti-immigrant faction in the game during some car ride. Idk about you man, but I’m not the biggest fan of integrating real world problems into fictional worlds. That’s what we have real life for. Literally. It gets exhausting.

@HalfpennyTerwilliger3 ай бұрын
All Trails games' story are connected but since it's not reasonnable to ask people to play all previous games to understand anything in the newly released game, they organised the Trails games into story arcs of two to four games. Each with its own cast of characters and happening in its own geographical area. Each story arc's first game is designed as a point of entry for newcomers. And this game just happen to be the first in the current story arc. I can't speak for this game specifically, but when I played Trails from Zero (4th game in the series but first game in its arc), I never felt lost. Any relevant info related to past events was clearly explained with just enough info to carry on without spoiling all the details outright so you can still go back to the previous games without knowing their whole plot.
