We were hiking out from Duck Lake and it seemed like a crime not to stop and fish a little at Barney Lake so we did.

Hey Amani! Just wanted to say thanks for making these videos. I haven’t been able to fish much since I had my kid a few years ago. I can’t wait to take him fishing. In the meantime, I fish vicariously through your videos. You seem like such a genuinely happy person, who is so enthusiastic about fishing. It’s definitely contagious and inspires me. Much love from LA brother, GOD BLESS YOU!

Right on man. I'm glad to bring the action to you until you can go again. When you can finally take your kid on some trips and expose him to the wonderful world of fishing, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. Until then, I got this! Thanks for tuning in.

Yeah, it was a good time. Those guys hadn't gone in a while and after talking to them at work about it for months I figured I'd get them out on the trail so they could remember how awesome it was to be out there.

Those brookies weren't huge but there were a lot of them and they were eager to strike. Added up to a fun time fishing.

Hey bro, I’m fishing up there soon not using a fly though, what bait do you recommend?
@wildernesswithamani10273 ай бұрын
I'd go with small tube jigs either 1/32oz or 1/16thoz if I had to recommend one artificial option. It's general regulation there once trout season opens so the ones made by powerbait are a good choice. I have been favoring the 1/16oz lately because they are easier to cast and they sink faster. I use those jigs in a bunch of my videos on my backcountry fishing playlist. If you go to my fishing tips playlist, I have a clip for those jigs, fishing a fly and a bubble, and a spinner in an alpine lake. I also have a really basic fly fishing video for beginners so all you would need for that is a $50 backpacking rod a nd a handful of nymphs(flies) and you'd be on your way. Good luck.

Good thing was it didn't look like you had to fight off mosquitoes on this trip especially with wind helping out.
@wildernesswithamani102710 ай бұрын
I saw mosquitoes but gladly they weren't an issue. It's freezing at night now which helps.
