I am a retired UP locomotive engineer out of Seattle. My wife's grandfather was a machinist at North Platte. That place is so big that it is its own service unit (division). I hate handling that many locomotives. Either you have to cut-out all the brake cylinders to get them to move, or lace up all the multiple unit air hoses and hope that you got them done correctly. Independent braking action with locomotives take a really long time to do anything, either applying or releasing.

Nice that you don't have to deal with that anymore.

This is the Worlds biggest?

I believe so. I don't know of any other bigger ones. Plus they say it inside the building/museum.

If this is BAILEY YARD--- yes, it is the world's biggest.

In North Platte Neb. It is huge. They have a building that looks like a huge rail spike and you can go up to the top and have a look around.

@brlngtn Yep, that's what I was on. Very nice up there but looking down can make you nervous lol
