My friend was on her way to go Christmas shopping and was the first in line at the railroad crossing and said she could see the tanker car coming towards her! It stopped before it could hit her car! I am so glad she’s ok.

good news = not tank cars, but grain cars and if they do derail at the crossing, the injuries are the same to the folks in the car. Very happy that no one injured.

Having run these things for 42 years, I can tell you this is a Jim Dandy... Possibly caused by a broken rail or picked a switch, any number of things may have caused this disaster... Doesn't look like any of the power was involved, so looks like the head end was not part of the problem... Great footage as usual from TAP....

But precision scheduled railroading saves money ok that's probably 10-15 million for everyone of those they gotta clean up maybe more.

@@iGame3D I’d agree it’s in the millions with everything totally lost (product, cars, damage to the track and time spent to clean up). I wouldn’t say $10 million but it looked like about 10 railroad cars damaged or flipped. Those things cost about $135,000-$150,000 each.

Insurance pays for accidents, so they’ll keep doing the same dumb psr stuff they’ve been doing. Second major derailment in a month, the other was at Maple Heights between Toledo and Cleveland

@@chefcjnobles1680 the cars are fixable depending on how damaged they are the tracks of course considering they layed off most of those people that fixed those the cars they definitely fucked themselves lol.

@@chefcjnobles1680 there was 20 cars that derailed in total. Out of 132. Those cars are older cars in the $90,000 - $110,000 range. I estimate (INCLUDING TRACK AND INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE) $2.5M - $3.5M!

On my way home from US Steel tonight. The train engines are laying on their sides on the south side of the tracks. You can see the roofs of them. I had to take a slight detour last Wednesday 12/23/20 to get home.

Wonder what caused this mess. I know CSX doesn't take as much care Amtrak does with keeping the railroad crossings smooth and safer for us driving vehicles as I've had to replace my suspension a few times because of their lack of repairs at crossings! Shame on CSX

Well shame on your county for not repairing the crossing. The railroad doesnt pay for that, it's a public right of way therefore not RR money. And by the way, Amtrak doesnt own any crossings on a freight line.

No the county does NOT fix the crossing the RR company does at least here in Michigan as I've complained and bitched to the county road commission they did go over it with some kind of device and did lower the speed. As the ties and rails is the RR responsibility. Just as Amtrak changes out the ties every year or so and they don't just put some asphalt done and shape it some as CSX does. I've even spoke with a couple of the Amtrak workers as well as I wasn't sure which RR to contact after getting the county out there.
