Back to Germany once again with the Main-Spessart Bahn in Train Sim World 2020. I'm running passengers up the line to somewhere in Bavaria from Gemunden, which is nice. It'll go well if I can figure out the difference between a doorbell and game sound effect.

The reason you got stuck is because you applied the brakes with the throttle activated. If that happens you need to release the brakes, put the throttle to off, then re apply power. You cannot apply throttle before releasing the brakes.

I had to pause the video to finish laughing during the doorbell incident. And then you started to reverse down the track. Deary me. Now my eyes are leaking from laughing so hard. That other driver was probably mumbling (no doubt in German) "I knew letting those Brits drive our trains was a bad idea. Knew it!" As for the fashion title... good idea to work on that a bit. Seemed a bit long. ;)

Sifa = Sicherheitsfahrschaltung, kind of a dead man switch. It does an emergency break if the train driver does not press / release a button or pedal every 30 seconds.

That emergency brake also lowered the pantograph and opens the Main Circuit Breaker (MCB) so next time raise the pantograph again and close the MCB and you should be free to go again :D Also, when the brake is applied, the throttle is locked to "off". so first release the brake before throttle up :P

I know it may not be as aestheically stunning for a KZbin video, but I would love the Colonel to give Run8 a bash. Can you imagine el Commandant here with those realistic physics and those awkward key binds? As well as dispatching/using the external dispatcher? Comedy gold I think. Only thing is the map, as vast and well made as it is, is much more desolate and bland (but then, it is the Mojave desert). I want to snap up the DLC subdivisions, I actually like the Mojave map a lot but it would be nice to have a change of scene. Plus, ability to link all routes into one super mega route just cannot be matched by any other train sim at all. The base game has 400 miles worth over two and a bit subdivisions, with the DLC adding at least another 200-300ish.

Run8 actually kinda sucks for single-player sessions. He'd either need friends who already play Run8 or he'd need to join a server where the Colonel's usual antics wouldn't be tolerated too long by all the foamers who take Run8 seriously.

@Java Monsoon I think Zusi3 is much more the style of trains and areas that the Col is used to. Probably look a lot nicer as a video than Run8. But it depends on what content he wants, Run8 is huge American diesel freight trains, Zusi is urban commuter stuff. Different takes. And yes, Zusi is used as a base program for real training simulators, but that does not justify calling Run8 short.

well it looks like its business as usual with the gallant colonel this is what we pay our train ticket for, excitement, near-death experience, and trying to hold our intestines from spilling out over carpeted floor as we split our sides laughing at the immeasurable display of control and expensive training from Deutscher Bahn that the colonel has achieved and a highly paid job is awaiting with virgin possibly as a 747 pilot. this boy is certainly made of the right stuff as you sit there wondering if you get to the intended destination alive and sane or finish up back from whence you boarded the train with a strong feeling of Deja Vu and head for the nearest gasthof for drinky poos

Trains don't have gears, Colonel. Forward is simply the direction of current (intended) heading (unless gradient + gravity says otherwise. more powah!)

To be really picky, the electrical motors on the axles do have gear ratios that can be changed, but they can only be changed in the depot for the type of train service. The driver has no choice in the matter!

I really love this one. I used to drive this particular train myself and that track and I must say the game is pretty realistic. At the end, with your rolling backwards... If you have an electric loco, the first thing you wanna check, each and every time when you don't get the thing moving is: is my panto up and is my loco switched on? :)

Funnily enough sometimes actual Loco Engineer's have to turn their loco/s off and back on again to reset faults. That happened to an LE I know the other day. It didn't matter though, he was already 40mins ahead of schedule.

I do not understand why the game does not let you to set the distance units to the ones used locally. So miles when you're playing in the US and the UK, and kilometres for Germany and everywhere else.
