I don't get why he gets so much hate for these NK videos. Obviously he knows what is really going on. We all do, though I don't think it's quite as bad in the cities as people are led to believe. I think he's just trying to present a positive and respectful picture of a country of real people who are caught up in a bad situation. He's displaying the essential human beauty that no dictator can completely erase away. He's treating them like normal people even if their situation is anything but.

J L P L Covering up the reality of evil, oppression and no freedom of thought of the people with fine words and a cute camera ....does not equal the truth. What an injustice and indifference to all those North Korean's who cannot escape so easily on a train to China and then say, wow! What a great experience....life in N.Korea SMH

Indigo traveller, Man I’ve been studying/reading about North Korea for at least 6 years. I’ve seen countless documentaries, but none showed such a personal level as yours. In fact I’ve never seen someone be able to so openly video so many different things in DPRK. I’m glad you made it out safely, and also glad you provided the world a non-biased view of such a mysterious place. Cheers from the US

He is t giving a non biased view by choice lol. He even stated that he’s afraid to say certain things in the video. This dude is being monitored at all times, and is aware that the hotel rooms are most definitely bugged

"Non biased" lol. Every single part of these tours is strictly regimented because they are literal propaganda. Of course he had no problems recording because on these tours, you don't see a single thing they do not plan on you seeing. They want foreigners to come and tell the world "Oh it was so great! Everything the western world says about it must not be true!" They take you to all of these empty places intentionally. They take you to all of these lavish dining places so you think the starvation stories are lies. I mean, he literally ate more in his week there than 99% of north koreans do in a full month. I'm honestly disappointed he has not mentioned any of this a single time in this series.

+Isbie Iskandar Yeah over-exacerating... Kim putting his own people and tourists to concentration camps for them to die after suffering every single day... Tell me, you like the guy called Adolf Hitler and his work? Or maybay Stalin? Cause when it comes to cruelty, Kim comes close but it is just in a very much smaller scale. The people who are loyal to Kim have no other choise. Tourists trips are heavily-guarded and full of propaganda. People die because they have no food and get put to a prison camp for nothing. Also tourists, there is still to this day American tourists locked up in these prison/concentration camps for well, crimes that they don't even have proper proof of and they make you confess by torturing you. So yeah, why don't you visit this paradise.

if your question is directed to me, answer is following.... if people are starving, and pyongyang does not, i can blame kim him self. but if whole nation is on the brink of the starvation just because westerners want to gain political points and conduct another government change as they please, ill stay in support of kim. but so far, i have no evidence that millions are starving. as matter of fact, there is no evidence that anyone starving in north korea. and i strongly believe that there is no unemployment. everyone is working something. do they eat till they get sick and you see obese koreans all around? no. do they throw away tons of food each day? nope. do they have everything they please? no. are they forced (people) on that way of life? yes, from two sides. do they actually suffer or life is much simpler and less stressful than on the west? hmmmm i am really divided on that... pros and cons. as i see, kim is hard on its borders, and there you can witness some unpleasant situations in case of defecting population, but inside of the country i have no evidence of tiranny or military oppression... would i like to live in such country? i used to. i know how it looks like. not for such long period of time as koreans, but about 15 years for sure ending with western vassals with its master washington bombing my country... now, who is to be blamed for condition of korean people? kim? or washington?

I must say, I’ve watched everything NK... very limited but still a bit out there. Love how you focused on the people. They tell the story. Remember watching footage of a poor girl forced to dance for hours in agony and then listen to hours of an old general talking. The sheer shock and scare she had when trying unsuccessfully to stay awake. Something about capturing the raw emotions which truly tells the story. Very beautiful country. To hear you say, "If I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening. and good night", is super eerie from our point of view. Because depending on who you ran into, that could have been the last time you said that. I'm happy all is well for you. Thank you so very much for sharing, and keep up the amazing work showing us parts of the country most of us will never get to see.

I love watching your videos. I won’t lie, I hate my life. It’s the same thing. Everyday. I work; get off work, and then I’ll have some dinner- after that? It’s off to sleep only to rinse rest and repeat. I read online all the time about travelers, much like yourself, who just save up a bit of money and travel the world. You and all the other world travelers I watch... all share this same sense of... happiness that I envy so so much. I know this is probably personal, but how do you make this happen? I’m almost 28 years old, i live in Las Vegas, NV and i make around $2,800 gross monthly. I’m not too sure if that helps. I just don’t fit in it here in vegas. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t gamble. To top it off? I’m vegan. It’s impossible to find good wholesome people in my city who share these same interests and passions. My wife and I are currently learning German and have been working our asses off to pay off the little debt we have. This can’t be all that life has to offer. I can’t imagine having to spend the rest of my life doing the same things day in and day out. That thought scares me terribly. I know it’s all about how you spend and where you spend when traveling for a living. My major question would be... how do you make money after you’ve started to travel? I try to find information on Google, but the only things I seem to find are blogs saying that you don’t need all the money in the world and you figure out how to raise money whenever you travel to knew places. I don’t care to live rich, I just want to make sure no matter where my wife and I go... we will have food and a safe place to sleep. Oh and.. a way to get to our next destination. I appreciate any advice or recommendations you’d be willing to give. Thank you so much. Thanks for making these great videos, and thanks for taking the time to respond to not only my comment, but to everyone else’s too.

Hey Robert! My advice would be to save a little money then go experience the world bit by bit. If you want to know how I did it, I have 2 videos, 1 called "How I make money" and another called "My biggest life regrets" those videos have all the information you need. Stay positive my friend! Follow your heart.

Everyone makes sacrifices for the lifestyle they want to lead. Travel now and pay for it later in life. Work now and travel later on your savings when you retire. Either way is a sacrifice.

Robert Bobert Nice story!, I'm just curious how much money do you spent to pay the debts and taxes?, I ask this because for a family that makes around $2800 monthly and still not be able to travel, seems like a extremely expensive place to live on (but I guess that's normal since you live in Las Vegas)

Robert Bobert Great post. I'm feeling the same. Be thankful you have someone to share it with. Never take it for granted. I know even a beach trip in the next state is going to cost a thousand dollars at least, so I can't imagine another country. I'm sure he makes plenty of money from putting out these awesome videos and getting sponsors. And probably patreon. But yeah, starting must be the hardest part. You just gotta go for it, I suppose.

I started with this North Korea series and since finishing have gone back to watch older journeys you've taken. Quality content! This is random, but, if you ever make it to Hawaii....I work at a shop on the North Shore of Oahu in a town called Waialua. We roast, bag and sell locally grown coffee. We also sell chocolate made from locally grown cacao. The shop used to be part of an old sugar mill and we still have equipment from 100 years ago! Come visit and I'll give you a tour and some free samples! :) Cheers and Aloha!

I've really enjoyed watching these videos of North Korea. The country looks very clean and tidy. No graffiti which is beautiful and I love how people aren't walking around staring at phones. However, the people look robotic and sad. I felt like I just wanted to hug them. Thank you for sharing.

We have a whole world at our disposal, music information, any kind of idea, study, thought and we can freely study, think and create our own thoughts and say it freely, they can not do any of this. And in these videos make everbody think that everything is okay, but isnt, and make me feel so bad, i dont know if he knows what does it mean , if he made it with the purpose to do good propaganda or not, but he made and many people is believing... that's sad.

i just hope he makes a video talking about it is not the truth , its not the reality the country is just a TURIST VISION, seeing GOOD THINGS, in BEAUTIFUL places, and GUIDE FROM NORTH KOREANS and following him to show what they want !! its not the reality the country! , just a tourist enjoying his trip , and fuck the rest of the country !, that beach, that monomuments , that places, that supermarkets , that food all the people can not enjoy it, and i am afraid to everbody see these video and think it is this way for all the country/population but the answer is : NOT.

My whole view of North Korea has changed since your videos. It’s a beautiful country. Strange but the country side is stunning. Actually every country has lots of dark sides. As for USA, It is a poor districts in big cities where It is very dangerous to walk due very high crime rate there. NK does not have such a problem in cities but have poverty in countryside.. Still, there are lots of countries that are considered "democratic" but have poverty in countryside..

Absolutely remarkable, Nick. I’m blown away at what you experienced! I was struck again at how much like China in 1990 DPRK is. The Chinese city you were in- I can’t even imagine China looking like that! My son visited China with his dad ten years ago, and even then it was way more advanced than in 1990. I’m absolutely fascinated with the journey you made and I’m so, so glad you did. Also, look at you with 168K subs!! I’m blown away, and so excited for you. Keep up the awesome work as always.
