i love Llandudno! We went there in 2017 and I think the cable car only ran once then! Still, prefer the tram tbh! Oddly enough, we've just got back from a fortnight in Scarborough and I felt the two resorts were quite similar too. I think it's because the Peninsula (formed by the Great orme in Llandudno and the hill with the castle on-near to where we stayed-in Scarborough) gives two coasts at each, and of course, the archetecture's pretty similar, but then, that seasidey archetecture features in so many of our seaside resorts, contributing to why I love them so much!

I love the variety of trains you encounter on your travels - up in my neck of the woods we just get the usual 158's and 170's plus ScotRail's Inter7City Class 43's but I think they're looking to eventually replace those old warhorses. I like those Class 197's as they seem very smart. I have never been to Llandudno, (yet), but that has to be one on the bucket list. The views are incredible!

On your re-re-visit check out West Shore too, there's two beaches in Llandudno and you were on North Shore but the West Shore beach is by far the better beach as it's sandy and part of Conwy Estuary so the tide goes out a long way, there's a gorgeous coastal path too which goes all the way to Deganwy train station which is about a 2 mile walk.

I used to visit Llandudno regularly, and soon learned to ride the cable car up if it was running, because it probably wouldn't be by the time I wanted to come down again. And if it wasn't, always to buy the return on the tram. Too windy, too hot, too cold, too rainy, too short-staffed, someone jumped off it and killed themselves - it was always something.

There's a lot to do on and around the Orme. I think I recall riding a rider braked steel toboggan ride from the lower slopes, which was a lot of fun. There's a private one way road scenic drive to do around the bottom if you have a car. There's an old gold or copper mine to visit on the Orme. That cable car is worth going back for and the tram was great - by the way there's a similar thing in Barcelona. Sometimes from the pier there's an old paddle steamer ship takes you on a trip down the Menai Straits and under the bridge. As you probably know, nearby Conwy is hugely worth a visit, for the castle and the old harbour. Llandudno serves as a launch point for a rail trip based on the north-south running Conwy Valley Line with tons to do on the way, leading to Blaenau Ffestiniog for the old narrow gauge railway to Porthmaddog. Don't miss the slate mine tours at Blaenau. The sister narrow gauge railway is the Welsh Highland Railway which goes between Portmaddog and Caernarvon - another worthy place to stay. Im my opinion North Wales stands as good as most international destinations for a holiday. Its as exciting as most places in the world people have on their bucket list to see. The coast, the mountains, the heritage railways, the fun things to do like mines and quarry zip lines, all make it marvellous. Finally, buy the bluray of the unique, quirky show, The Prisoner, enjoy it and make a long visit to Portmeirion, its location ( near Porthmaddog ). You can stay there, either at the posh hotel or in one of the self catering properties in the 'Village' ................. " Be seeing you "

I've been to Llandudno once before on a coach trip, (only for a day trip) such a lovely place too, particularly for a seaside holiday. **Wow** though.... I never knew you could get there by train, and from Manc picc too. This would be very handy for me to think about for future reference, since Piccadilly is quite an easy to get to station for me. I'm very glad about this. I'm wondering if it's a little bit expensive though. (to travel to Llandudno) Is there any way to find out the price online beforehand, or just go to Manc picc and ask at the ticket depot there? I loved your video. You make a lot of nice ones, and I like to watch them, even though I don't comment on many of them. I watched your plain flight video too, when you had a lovely trip abroad to Barcelona in Spain. Wow, that must have been a lovely holiday for you. :) You make lots of lovely videos of your train trips, so please keep them coming. :)

Great video, G. It’s a place I must visit! I wonder how many cable cars there in the UK… I know of this one, the cable car over the Thames and the one at the Heights of Abraham in Matlock. Are there any others?

Great vlog. I've been going up the Orme for 50 years. Never once seen the cable car running. I've walked up a few times. Driving up is an experience! The views are amazing. I'd hate to be a gripman in case I got it wrong.

@@GLovesTrains Nope! But I'm a lucky guy. Not! I once fell down a lift shaft. Obviously I survived, but I'm very accident prone. I'm sure the cable would snap or something! Absolutely loving your content. Many thanks

Surprised you didn't have a trip on the steamers that run along there. A little further along is Portmerion which is beautiful especially if it's sunny.

Super video. Cant believe its just 11 quid from Manchester to Llandudno. It does look a bit like Scarborough South Bay too from that angle you were filming. Scsrborough hilly too!

I'm the leader of a walking club group and we visited Llandudno (which we reached by coach) on the last Sunday in June this year. We climbed the Great Orme from the Pier through the Happy Valley (and you are correct, it's steep) before heading off to St. Tudno's Church lower down. We then climbed back up and wandered around the outside of the National Trust managed Parc Farm before taking the steep 'Monks Path' down to the road on the Conwy side of the Orme and then the 'Invalids Path' which returns you to the Victoria Tram terminus and the town centre. As well as doing that on the Sunday with my group, I had also used the train to get me to and back from Llandudno for my walk reconnoitre a few days earlier. Fab place Llandudno, and as always I enjoyed your vlog.

A fellow Mancunian, I'd lovvv to do this train ride along with you if you're looking for volunteers, lols... Ps, I know a lottt of Nth Wales verrr well indeed, my late grandparents owned a static caravan in Llandulas nr Abergele, which we would visit with great regularity in summer season when I was a youngster... As an adult, I'd drive there, taking only an hour or so (I drove quick lols), and just have a saunter about and take in those spectacular views all along the coastline (that being before, unfortunately, I had to cede my driving licence on medical grounds)...
