Brilliant video! I'm a guard who works this route so I can tell you the features along this line. First junction leaving Larbert is Larbert jn. , followed by Carmuirs west jn (the trailing junction with the 50mph limit). Then you pass through Carmuirs double tunnels (the two single bore tunnels - they have since been opened up into a bridge). The next junction is Greenhill lower where the line to Cumbernauld diverges. At this point you switch from travelling in the UP direction to travelling DOWN toward Queen St. You join the main Edinburgh and Glasgow railway at Greenhill upper junction. You then cross the Castlecary arches (viaduct over the M8 motorway). Croy is followed by Gartshore UPL & DPL. Then at lenzie the UP line becomes bi-directional. The DOWN line also become bi-directional at the Cadder UPL & DPL (Cadder loops) shortly down the line. Through Bishopbriggs you then pass Eastfield depot and (at the same time as passing the depot) Cowlairs East and West junctions. Turning to cross Cowlairs south junction as you start the 1 in 50 descent into the Queen St. Tunnel (Cowlairs incline) and into Queen St. Station itself.

Another brilliant video, great way to relax in the evening. I'll be riding on this very route tomorrow when I go from Glasgow up to Stirling, though it'll most likely be in a class 170. On my local line every service is operated by class 156s in 2, 4 and 6 car formations and they regularly charge through my local station at up to 70mph. Looking forward to the next one. Regards, Ben.

+Ben Reid the 170s up there are really good trains to travel on. Nice and smooth.
@hexagon78959 жыл бұрын
I didn't mean that the ride quality was poor, on the contrary their air suspension is probably good enough for 125mph even. My criticism of the 170s are their 1/3, 2/3 door spacing which in the windy weather one commonly experiences in all season's in Scotland helps only to funnel cold droughts right into the standard class passenger saloon. That and they take over 4 minutes to reach 100mph. They could do with better transmissions and higher powered engines. Currently it takes 48-50 minutes to do Edinburgh to Glasgow with 3 - 4 stops. With loco-hauled push pull services it took 37-39 minutes with 1-2 stops. So much for DMUs having better acceleration than loco-hauled trains!

Ah, good to see another Scottish route covered again on here! This video was a lot more information filled compared to others, mind you it's probably because it's just a half hour journey. Also a few things: 1. (23:00) That seems to be an odd headlight glitch with the Settle and Carlisle 158, with AI trains it only activates the tail lights and on player trains the tail lights are at both ends so don't have a clue what it's all about... 2. Do you plan to do the journey from Stirling to Edinburgh (perhaps on a Dunblane to Edinburgh service via Falkirk Grahamston) with the DPSimulation Extension? 3. A few people have been asking about this but do you plan on any journeys with the 86/87? Because it'd be interesting to see how you manage the challenge of the tap system, and if not in a route learning video, perhaps a train guide for any tips that others might miss/performance differences between versions?

+Peter Stuart Thanks :) It possibly was due to the shorter length of the video so having to cram the information into a shorter time. 1. I forgot about that, but I have encountered that rather annoying bug before! 2. Possibly, that depends on whether the correct scenery has been added? I know there was an invisible station due to limitations with Steam Workshop. 3. Yes I certainly do, I've just been holding off until I get the new PC as most of the scenarios I've found for the Class 86 or 87 are too laggy to record right now :)
@DTPORT57239 жыл бұрын
+PTGRail Oh in response to #2, for some reason the Workshop version has Stirling station invisible but on the DPSimulation Website download the scenery is there alright with that version.

Great video. Havent seen a 150 in Scotland though- only seen one near Liverpool. I work in Queen Street at the moment and have 156, 158 & 170's all running through the low level platforms while the work for electrification of the upper level takes place. as for a loco video, would love to see a class 20 video on a scottish route- just a suggestion! Thanks for the video

+Derek Gibson This scenario was set around the year 2000 if I remember correctly. I don't know if 150s operated then, but as the scenario came from AP I'm assuming some level of accuracy. Thanks for the suggestion, I shall indeed take it on board! :)

Be good if they linked this up with the SECML add on. It would involve rendering Stirling (and Alloa Branch) And if you could have it wired to Alloa and Dunblane, as it currently is. Then you could run GLQ - Alloa / Dunblane local trains and whole route GLQ - DEE services. Glasgow Stirling Bridge of Allan Dunblane Gleneagles Perth Invergowrie Dundee. (I came here form your PTH - DEE video, which made me think of this) Also, when you say you believe you're crossing 'Greenhill Junction' With the 70mph turnout and 100mph on the main E&G. Technically that's Greenhill Upper Junction. Youd already crossed Greenhill lower Junction, which was where you had the 70mph straight ahead road, whereas as trains via Cumbernauld had the 50mph turnout to the right. Interestingly, at Greenhill lower junction you went from travelling in the UP direction (towards the west coast mainline via Cumbernauld & Coatbridge Central) to travelling in the DOWN direction towards Queen st.

Once again +PTGRail a great run. This has to be one of my favorite routes in the sim. I know it pretty well as I've traveled a fair bit around that part of Scotland. Just a few things to mention, the route off to the left ends up going through Camelon then Falkirk Grahamstown before it links back onto the mainline at Polmont. Grangemouth Refinery is down that was asll. Larbert and Stirling are pretty close to each other (it's about a ten minute ride on the train). Larbert's neighbouring town Stenhousmuir used to be the home of the Wham bar (they were made in McCowan’s toffee factory). Just thought I'd share those nuggets of info. Will you do the run into Edinburgh later?
@PTGRail9 жыл бұрын
William Mankelow Thanks WIlliam :) It's always been one of my favourite routes in TS too, though it's definitely more of a cab view route. Very enjoyable to drive though with very smooth frame rates. Thanks for all the information. As always I'm always interested in nuggets of info like that, though I was aware about the route going to Polmont already I didn't know the rest. I do indeed plan on doing the Larbert to Edinburgh run at some point, along with the return journeys. I have already done the Glasgow to Edinburgh run a couple of months ago. :)
