The Big Boy was going slower because it’s built for freight trains and power, compared to 844 being built for speed and passenger trains

They weren't the heaviest. The C&O Alleghenies out did them in the weight category, but the Big Boys are indeed the champs of overall size.

The most powerful steam locomotive ever built was the PRR Q2, with a power output of 7,987 horsepower. oh yeah, and iirc, the virginian AE class had the Y6b beat for tractive effort too. 176,600 vs 166,000

yea, kinda obvious that with the same power setting, the 844 would win. the class of locomotives she's part of was built for speed, while the Big Boys were built for strength(though the 800s/FEFs could haul quite a long train, and the Big Boys, while pulling a mile-long train, could get up to 70 MPH(112 KPH))

Actually the title of strongest steam engine in the world goes to the Pennsylvania Rail Road 4-4-6-4 Q2. However due to issues with the Q2 not being able to preform properly, true bearer(s) of the title are the 2-6-6-6 Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Alleghenies, and Virginia Railway Blue Ridges (they’re the same locomotive).

for a little info, the proper class for 844 is a northern class fef-3

By the way the fef-3 class Northern which 844 is is built to go 110 miles per hour continuously and there was one recorded at 124miles per hour back in the day pulling a heavier train than even the Millard could at that speed

nah, the world record for a unstreamlined steam locomotive is 108 mph, and that was set by an A3 pacific, Papyrus.

The big boys top speed is 80mph The 844 has a theoretical speed of 130mph and starts releasing extra pressure which is the steam that makes it look like it’s about to blow up

Biggest Problem with any locomotive in game is that they don't follow real specs as the UP 844 Record Speed was only 100mph but yet in game its going 125mph
