Train Simulator 2021 | WCML "Missing Link" Phase 3 | Birmingham - Stafford | Class 350

Hello and welcome back to the next installment of Train Simulator 2021!
Today we're looking at "Phase 3" of the Alan Thomson Sim "Missing Link" route. The route is designed to connect the North and South parts of the West Coast Mainline. With this addition it means you can now drive the full route between Glasgow and London Euston.
Today we're driving a Class 350/3 double set between Birmingham New Street and Stafford. We call at Smethwick Galton Bridge and Wolverhampton en route. Sadly the signalling system is against us on this particular route which could be a bug with either the scenario or route itself. It could also be because i'm missing assets... who knows?!

Thanks. Loved this drive, even with the bugs etc. Enjoyed the commentary too. This is my part of the world so it's nice to see how it's been rendered - the two level station at Galton Bridge looks good. The West Midlands may feel like a labyrinth, and there are a number of lines which could serve key suburbs, but mainly carry frieght. Thankfully they are slowly being 'reclaimed' and stations are being built in South Brum, between Wolves and Walsall as well as in the darkest Black Country near Dudley. As regards TS21, I'd love to see the line north out of Snow Hill, and both Lichfield and Walsall lines. Looking forward to more videos!

Thanks Paul! Really glad you liked it. Yeah I imagined from looking at the LNWR and WMT network maps that they're mainly freight lines which TOCs probably also use as diversionary routes. Oh Snow Hill I know even less about! Is that a route currently available for Train Simulator do you know?

@@JoeDobsongaming Hi Joe. Snow Hill south is available all the way to Marylebone, and it's an interesting route imo - but I'm no expert and don't own TS - I just enjoy watching content like yours! Snow Hill north would follow the GWR trackbed to The Hawthorns (WBA FC), then south over Galton Bridge, and on to Stourbridge and Kidderminster. Interesting to hear that you drive trains for a living! It gives your commentary a bit more of an authoritative flavour.

@@paulnortham Noooooo I don't drive trains, could you imagine if they let me loose on one of them! Noooo i'm a mere conductor. So I have all the pleasure of being on the trains, and do get to press buttons, but sadly levers are beyond me (at this precise moment in Greenwich mean time) ;)

@@JoeDobsongaming 😆 I got the wrong end of the stick there! By the way, what are your favourite routes? What would you like to see on TS in future? I must say, it is nice when routes are built that you know well, like this one is for me. I used to catch the train from Rolfe Street out to school in Hagley in the 80s (taking a left at Galton junction - this was before Snow Hill was rebuilt and connected via the Jewellery Line) The guard would even let us join him in his van, which I can't imagine happening now!

A broken, laggy scenario in Train Sim? Well I never! Shocking! Why it never, ever happens. I must have quit playing TS for other reasons. Raining and miserable is default for your area though, isn't it? Hardly something extraordinary ;)

The free WCML south route (West Coast Mainline South v5.3) has the Northampton loop included so is a more usable one.

Are the keyboard commands the same as the original Microsoft Train Sim?

They’re very similar all be it a few differences. On a EMU like this it’s A to increase power and D to decrease power/brake etc
