Train Simulator: Riviera Line In The Fifties Review or something idk

The Great Western Railway has some of the most dedicated enthusiasts. I am not one of them. That makes me the ideal person to talk about the Train Simulator route which harks back to the second golden era of the Western!
Named after the Devonian area it runs through, the Riviera line is a 2015 DLC for Train Simulator, depicting the old Great Western mainline in the first decade of British Railways. I guess I'm reviewing it.

There's a bit of a story to this video, the first time I rendered it in full the render did something to the audio, causing it to stutter. What you're watching is effectively the second time this video was edited from the ground up. So, I kind of have to make an official statement for this, but this video was made instead of America Sings. For some reason I can't get myself to animate and really, I just don't want to at this moment in time. Who knows when I'm feeling it again, now's just not the time.

I agree the water looks crap, but for £14.99, I don't think it's that bad, you do get 5 steam trains, around 35 miles and a branch line, I agree it's not perfect, but it's still pretty good and I like it 😃. P.s thanks for making such an awesome video, I hope you more videos like this 👍

Its probably one of my most played routes. I like gwr stuff. But mostly because I got this route from the beginning when I bought the game for like 3€ on the internet

honestly i cant see why anyone would dislike the gwr, they had beautiful lines, beautiful locos, and a nice livery im not biased because i live in ex gwr territory, promise

If you want a decent Western Route, that's free, check out Steam Sounds Supreme's Wycombe and Joint Lines, with both LMS and LNER sections or even check out GAD's Dorset Coast or West of England lines, where it wasn't uncommon to see the odd pannier or GWR loco thumping about and with Dorset Coast getting a much needed expansion to the Slow and Dirty, were Western Engines could be seen, I'd recommend checking them out. Also, SSS has made a full on GWR 1920s era Riviera line. However, it is up to you what you want to do.

Got to thinking, and actually I'm pretty sure most of the rolling stock in this pack is actually recycled from older packs: Pannier & "Modified" Hall (even in reality it's very hard to tell them apart from normal Halls) may be slightly updated versions of the old Falmouth Branch stock, along with most of the goods wagons. GWR King Class has been around for donkey's years as its own DLC along with the Centenary coaches in GWR Chocolate & Cream GWR Castle Class was released as its own DLC in BR guise a few months before this pack came out. Even the BR Mk.I's originated from a megapack originally made by Digital Traction during their brief partnership with DTG. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only stock that's 100% new and original to Riviera in the 50's is: GWR Grange Class Collett 'Sunshine' coaches Fish Bloater fish van Siphon G (which is used in the "Milk Train" consists as a brake van, and while technically it could be used that way it was far more commonly seen as extra luggage and parcel storage on passenger and mail trains, hence the concertina vestibules at the ends) Toad brake van (which has its 5 Key/Passenger View set inside the guard's compartment rather than on the open rear platform; a unique look, but not the most scenic as the only outside view is through the two small windows at the front) Also worth noting is a weird glitch with the now BR Crimson & Cream Centenary stock, in which some of the passengers are wearing trippy technicolor outfits that randomly cycle through colors constantly. My guess is they were originally supposed to change colors to give the illusion of being different people for every coach, but something in the scripting for that effect went wrong and was never caught.

The sounds on Rivera in the fifties are actually from steam sound supreme. It was during this brief partnership with DTG that I first heard of sss, that is back in 2016. They probably are watered down a bit though.

I have favourites in all rail company’s merchant navy in southern, a1-3 and a4 in LNER ,GWR it has to be pannier tank, LMS is the black 5

i general love this route, it might be my favorite, but you do have some truth, the engines clip through platforms and the riviera is disgusting, but i love the route, but respect your opinion

I too really enjoy seeing 52s, though 23s are also quite active in my area. And the fact they can be used in push-pull formations is just bonkers to me, I love it.
