Train Stop Lübeck-Kücknitz (Deutsche Bahn - Schleswig-Holstein) - With Comments

Train stop Lübeck-Kücknitz is a station of the railway line from Lübeck central station to Lübeck-Travemünde. At the northern end there is a pedestrian's crossing. From there you can walk onto a pedestrians' bridge, crossing the freight line to Scandinavia quai.
The line to Scandinavia quai crosses the line (and road) to Travemünde by means of a short tunnel.
During winter class 648 DMUs do the service here. In summer, trains consist of class 112 electric engines and up to 7 double deck coaches. That's what the long platform is needed for. When the weather is fine, the trains are crowded with passengers heading for the beach.
First we see a LINT DMU, class 648, going to Travemünde. Then a freight train comes, headed by a class 185 engine, going to Scandinavia quai. About 12 minutes later the engine returned through the tunnel.
Approx. 1 km from here both railway lines unite. The 185 engine had to let the scheduled train (class 648 DMU) to Lübeck go first. The scene was recorded from inside the DMU.

Moin Florian, obwohl es da so leer aussieht, sind trotzdem eine ganze Reihe von Leuten eingestiegen. In der Nähe liegt ein großes Wohngebiet. Von dort aus ist der Lübecker Hauptbahnhof mit der Bahn schneller zu erreichen als mit dem Bus. Der Busverkehr in Lübeck ist übrigens am Wochenende nicht so toll. Viele Linien fahren nur stündlich. Da kann die Bahn punkten, sie fährt zwar auch nur einmal pro Stunde, ist aber schneller. Viele Grüße nach Berlin (gut, wenn die BVG nicht stündlich fährt - früher gab es Zeiten, da stand „dichte Zugfolge“ im Fahrplan!) Dirk

Vielen Dank! Die DB hat eben keine kleineren Elektrotriebwagen. Das ist schon lange so, in den 1990ern sind VT 628 auch auf vielen Strecken unter dem Fahrdraht gefahren. Schöne Grüße zurück! Dirk

Hello Lasse, thank you! It is always a bit strange to see DMUs running under the wire, but Deutsche Bahn has nothing similar to LINT for electric operation. On summer weekends long electric trains run the whole way from Hamburg via Lübeck to Travemünde. So passengers do not have to change trains when they want to go to the beach. Greetings to Denmark!
