@residentspirit60232 жыл бұрын
For the Osaka-Kanazawa-Tokyo area by rail, there is an alternative JR pass you can use, it is called the Hokuriku Arch Pass, and the Thunderbird and Hokuriku Shinkansen are included.. It’s cheaper than the Japan-wide JR Pass, ¥25,000 for One week unlimited pass, and you can see lots of places off the beaten path. I did this trip in August 2019 starting in Tokyo. Itoigawa, Kanazawa, Takaoka, Toyama, and Karuizawa with the major city centres on either end of course! Noto Peninsula, Amaharashi and Kurobe Gorge are also along this northern route and worth a proper explore on the smaller local JR lines. Just one week to explore this section of the northern coast is not enough!

My wife and I truly enjoyed Kanazawa. We tried to book the same hotel where he did stay, but ended at the Square Hotel. It was really amazing. We toured the castle grounds and the gardens. I went by myself to the Nomura Samurai house. Everything was very close and we both enjoyed ourselves. I hope you can go soon.

Loved the park in Kanazawa, Rion. Arigatougozaimashita for introducing me to this beautiful city. I want to visit there one day. 👍
Kanazawa punches well above it's weight, tourism wise. As well as the park there's the grounds of a castle (part of it has been rebuilt in modern times, but using traditional methods. Unlike, say, Osaka castle, which has lifts in it!), a reconstructed boat house next to another beautiful garden, an art gallery with a famous "fake swimming pool" (not always open, unfortunately) and three preserved entertainment districts that survived wartime fireboming. There's also the "Ninja temple", which is not actually related to ninja. It's essentially a second castle, disguised as a temple, and is also the original structure. And for more specific interests there's the phonograph museum, with loads of old clockwork gramophones, including some Victrola Credenzas, which were some of the most expensive home entertainment equipment of their day.

Hi, Rion, congratulatios for catching the train for Kanazawa. It seems that you have trained it to perfection. Anyhow, thanks for your endeavor to tavel even under current circumstances, although fortunatdly only few passenger on train. I was impressed by an original station design as well as lovely and peaceful park. By the way this video was interesting as always because whatever you do just cannot be boring. I am eager to watch the next one. Keep being yourself, stay safe and healthy! Kind regards from Zagreb, Croatia.

Cool time lapse at the end, Rion! I hope you don't get sucked in to have any gold on your food when you are there because it has no flavor--it is only for show. Kanazawa is like a little sister to Kyoto in its old town area, but without as many tourists. It would be interesting to hear your comparison.

according to wikipedia, "spork" (the word, not the utensil) was first coined by just some random guy: "In 1951, Hyde W. Ballard of Westtown, Pennsylvania filed an application with the United States Patent Office ... to register 'Spork' as a trademark for a combination spoon and fork made of stainless steel."

Hello! I love your videos! Bring me so many memories. I already have been in Kanagawa and it was one of my favorite places to visit. The park is incredible and the Castle is so majestic it make me take so many good photos. Thanks for this videos Rion. Greetings from Chile. PD: Maybe is a good idea that you can put the kanji/hiragana/katakana of the things you teach, like for example with the Yukizuri, so we can learn reading and pronunciations.
