I’m thinking with traffic signals installed to prevent stopping on the tracks, when motor vehicle traffic is heavy, and to prevent stopping between the track and gate, the new signals will be masts.

The illustration shows that each side of the roadway will have a cantilever with four pair of lights and a gated mast holding ome pair of back lights and the traffic signal right behind the southbound lanes signal.

@@MobileRailSpotterRxR It's sad to see the older SP cantilever go. I remember when both sides of the crossing had the same 1960s cantilevers with 8-inch lenses, older mechanical bells, Griswold gate base and when there were about 4-5 industrial spur crossings all with the same cantilevers and gate bases between the Fresno Sub and the California Central local only line (mostly used for agricultural purposes). The latter crossing had older 8-inch masts with separate gates.

5:58 That’s sad I feel like that single Raco CO Typo Cantilever signal is now at its last stand against replacement by far my favorite type of cantilever crossing signals because I grew up seeing them as a kid in my home state of Texas was very common now they’re very rare various sets of these signals are very scarce only in a few certain places at this point

I must say, I'm glad that the city of Sacramento is making an effort to make their railroad crossings safer for both motorists and pedestrians. But it's still going to be sad to see these historic cantilevers get replaced. They have a lot of history to them, with RACO and Modern Industries mechanical bells to WCH E-Bells, the cantilevers are a special part of this crossing. I hope that the final project looks nice! (Also, I know I haven't commented in a while. I still watch your videos, but don't feel as motivated to comment anymore.)

Yep. They need to do some more crossing inprovements within Sacramento. The PDF Illustration for this crossings shows a pedestrian crossing being added not aure if it will be gated or gateless and both sides of the road will have updated cantilevers and gated mast signals with a traffic signal added for the southbound lanes simular to Ramona Ave has for its northbound lane. They are going to have it pretty close to the new signal unless the new signals will be installed in front of where the area these old signals are at that way it would be room for the traffic signal to be in sight. This project is being done to eliminate the rush hour traffic that stops on the track when a train is coming. I have videos in the past of cars almost getting hit by trains here due to stopping and getting stuck on the tracks. TBH, I haven't had enought time to watch everybody's videos my watch later list is backup up with videos I haven't got to look at yet. Been tired a lots. Some videos I have watched but haven't commented myself.

I sure am gonna miss this crossing, and I will always remember it. Is there any reason why it’s going to get upgraded?

They are upgrading it since the diagonal design here is dangerous as cars always stop on the tracks in the southbound lanes when a train is coming during rush hour. The current signals also are out of date for this crossing now.
