The R notebook is really excellent. This whole series has been fabulous . I'm very new to this, but one thing I noticed as I was reading ISLR was that there was not much standardization between all the different modeling techniques. It's no surprise that something like caret emerged and I'm glad it did. Lots of good stuff here!

How do you weight classes where there is a class imbalance? where SMOTE/Up/Down sampling may not be appropriate

I think caret is wonderful .. its quite like scikitlearn from python. Have tried some hands on tidymodels but it feels more confusing.

I am not trying to imply that I don't trust you on this, but I just skimmed the section on how to deal with class imbalances in the Applied Predictive Analytics textbook several days ago and don't recall F1 being mentioned, or it being alluded to without being named by anything stating that it is often best to try to optimize between the TPR and the PPV in the case of class imbalances. So could you please provide me with a reference for that??
