Between Zirda, Training Grounds, and Biomancer's Familiar; I've been refining a Kenrith + Zacama EDH "activated ability" tribal deck Zirda is especially nice with things like the "class" enchantments and channel abilities

41:20 not necessarily game-winning, but a clever play you could make here (afaict) is to play the flyer, block Atraxa, and then Cut Down your own flyer to avoid giving them life. Just a thought, but I realize it's also just not a great matchup for this deck without sideboarding, like you said in the video. Love the content, LVD, keep it up! 😊

It was incredibly disappointing to see Wizards take such a light hand with the recent bannings. Atraxa singlehandedly won the last player you played that game. Even with it being a seven drop, a card shouldn't be able to swing the situation from "I'm probably going to lose" to "there's absolutely no chance of me losing now" just by being played.

Yes and no. I think that powerful comeback spells can be important for the fun of the game, but I agree that Atraxa is too strong. 7cmc 7/7 lifelink vigi deathtouch flying is already strong and beating the vanilla test, but "draw 4-7 cards, and only one of them is a land guaranteed" stapled onto it is ludicrous. Agreed Atraxa should've been banned, but still I feel like there should be swingy expensive cards. Just... not *that* swingy :p

I faced a similar deck to this just recently! But they used Patchwork Crawler to exile Omen Hawker, Depth Charge Colossus and Thermo-Alchemist with Training Grounds in play to create infinite mana and infinite pings. Pretty cool :)

match 5 vs mono red , use fading hope to bounce curtains and replay to get rid of the ligthing strike , still a long shoot but it would avoid the inevitable

I like this kind of small midrange synergistic decks a lot! It's too bad the various bombs (breach, etali, chandra come to mind) kind of force you to run counterspells, play aggro or go over the top yourself 😕

I've been trying to run Training Grounds ever since it was spoiled. My list is similar to yours, but I'm running Rona, Herald of Invasion because the flipped side is pretty fun, but I've been struggling against removal with it. I guess I should get the Curtains... they're pretty deece lol.

I would have been tempted to play Rona in this one both for card filtering early game but also because her flipped form that I always forget about when she's in play is bonkers

Was definitely a consideration, the card filtering would be nice late game. The lack of Legendary creatures makes it a little less powerful than it could be.

Gix would be a great finisher in long matches. Draw your hand out with faeri mastermind on opponents turn then just need 6 mana next turn (tho 5 black)

Don't know if someone said that already, but in that game against mo ores you could've bounce your own creature, replay it and transform to take out lightning strike. All for 3 mana. A bit clunky but still a way to stay alive😅

Not sure why you don’t put Xander’s Lounge in there. Doesn’t make sense to take damage when you can pay the red. Deck doesn’t look like much fun. The unblockable is the main game winner as a general rule. Not a great build. Way underpowered. Training Ground is ideal with the Thran Spider an a mono blue artifact build. You can copy artifacts(portal, leveler, swords, spider, etc) by using Drafna, Founder of Lat-Nam. It works pretty well. Already been using the training ground. Karn, Legacy Reforged is great in that shell. Surge Engine is perfect with the training grounds. Strong snergy

Considered going down the artifact route with Drafna and Spider but it was missing that critical mass of artifact creatures with activated abilities that I was looking for. Really want to avoid tapped lands in such a low curve deck where you almost always spend all your mana every turn. Xander's Lounge would be too much of a tempo loss, so I'd much rather take a little bit of damage.
