Good work here....Tex is impressive. We are working with our 10 week year old female RR....you can see her eyes processing everything.....very stubborn 😆

Thanks David! I’m no expert, but from our experience with Tex I find these dogs highly intelligent and of course stubborn at times. Tex has been really good with training, trick is to keep distractions down (unless you want to do certain trainings with distractions present which we’ve done too), have good treats and make sure to take breaks. Takes baby steps sometimes but consistency.

@@TexanGuy Agreed 100% we live up in the Sierra Nevada's right up against BLM land so we have razors & dirt bikes constantly going by property for Rio to hear tons of wild animals so the distractions are there....that said very very smart taking in everything. We switched from a collar leash to harness a few days ago which has helped tremendously for leash direction.

David Lenshyn We started with a collar leash then tried a harness as well when his walking and heeling wasn’t progressing like we wanted. We eventually found a transitional leash from K9lifeline and it helped tremendously! We still use it to this day to keep driving that behavior of staying right at our side during walks. He’s gotten so good on it that most of the time I don’t even have to have it over his snout and can walk him normally. It helped a lot. Now it’s a little odd looking, but it works. May be something to look into if you find a harness doesn’t help.

@@TexanGuy Awesome intel and we will look into this. Every time Rio takes a nap she seems to grow LOL her Dad was imported over from Africa....Zulu and her Mom Rafiki is on the larger side....Rio is a deep Red Wheaten with darker ears and a mask........similar to Tex. We noticed when Rio gets tired she gets rough with mouthing we say be nice and ignore as much as possible but timeouts are warranted and then she is usually asleep within 5 minutes....right now that's our biggest issue.

David Lenshyn I can tell you we went through lots of chew toys haha, when the biting got rough we tried to immediately present a good chew toy. We also had toys he only got while in the kennel, so when it was time for bed or we were going out and he saw those toys come out he knew “okay I’m getting treats but I have to go in my kennel too”. He is spoiled rotten now though, he sleeps with us and some months back graduated to no kennel whatsoever with good behavior.
