If you keel the mast and headsails it is easier and faster sailing. The normal academic keeling design reduces heeling over and increases speed of sailing.

Only in regattas for 15 years and spent my youth taking care of other peoples watercraft the only thing sunk where I sailed was the Edmond Fitzgerald
