Training Ukrainian recruits in the UK

The UK Armed Forces are training Ukrainian recruits, to prepare them for frontline combat as Ukrainians from all walks of life continue to fight for their families and freedom.
We heard from those helping to train recruits across the county.

Must be hard for the translator. She will get to know every cadre of troops well and will know that many will not survive. There's few civilians out there who will ever lose so many friends as she will. I bet saying goodbye is really hard for her. The trainers are military so there is a degree of acceptance of death and the language barrier I am sure helps emotionally distant themselves somewhat but the translator is not used to this world.

These unfortunate souls. They shouldn't have to fight for just existing at such a young age. They shouldn't have to suffer the horrors of war just so they have something to come back to. Their hopes and dreams shouldn't have to be hoping to come home, staying alive or to complete trying to fight for their country's survival. It is a burden they shouldn't have been made to carry. I feel like we have failed them in some way, that they have to train and fight because it has become essential to survival like water and food is for life. It fills me with melancholy.
