When I competed, the pros said they weren't worried of the newcomer with a $5,000 rig (this was 30 years ago). They were worried about the newcomer with a decent gun with finish worn off from putting $5,000 worth of reloads through the gun. That was the kid to keep an eye on.

Remington made typewriters before pistols. They also were tasked with making the 1911.
@CivilizedWarrior
@CivilizedWarrior 4 ай бұрын
The ww2 1911’s were made by Remington-Rand, a related, but different company. Basically, the Remington family started Remington & Sons in the early 1800’s, which made BOTH typewriters, and firearms. Then, in the late 1800’s they sold off Remington & Sons and it merged with another typewriter company, which became Remington-Rand. The family then started The Remington Arms Company, and continued making just firearms, while Remington-Rand kept making typewriters, and later on, computers. In a random weird coincidence, Remington-Rand, the typewriter company, (which coincidentally had a gun making lineage) was pressed into service by the gov’t to make 1911 pistols during WW2, simply because they were a big company with a big enough factory, and the tooling necessary to quickly and easily shift to building pistols. And they built a lot of them. Remington Arms, meanwhile, was producing ammunition for the war effort, as well as M1903A3 bolt action rifles, and other more complex parts for various other guns, which were then shipped to other factories with less machining capability for assembly.

Training, vs expensive or cheap guns is so nuanced. Training definitely is king, but if someone trained for 10 years on glocks and is insanely good with them then decides to switch to a staccato they may shoot it poorly until they trained enough with it. Which is why it’s best to train with a very few different pistols until you become a proficient shooter. Then the other side is a new shooter, put a glock in their hands they may suck with it. Put a staccato or any pistol with a great trigger in it and they may shoot it very well. They might also suck even aith every advantage possible. I had a 320 and it always felt soft recoiling to me. I never had the skill at the time to shoot it fast so I can speak on the muzzle flip and returning to target. I personally hated the trigger the most on it. I tried many apex combinations and also stronger and lighter trigger springs and never could like the feel of the trigger. Then it had extraction issues so I traded it in for a p10c and haven’t looked back

The shot at that Moscow event where there were so many people they needed a helicopter doing a pan shot just to show how insane the crowd size was.

In practical performance the guns are very close to each other, particularly if they hadn’t put the aftermarket guide rod in the prodigy, or already put it through a torture test and damaged it.

As a 320 simp I stand with Gvan… supposedly only .030” different bore axis vs the beloved 1911…. And let’s see, does that 2011 come with the drop fire option like the P320? I think not…

EDC is the Hellcat OSP, my budget is 200 rounds every 2 weeks. Would I love a Gucci level gun fuck yes, but what I have I trust with my life and that’s what counts at the end of the day. Got a red dot, going to get a light as well and that’s it. When I’m not at the range I’m using my Mantis system for dry fire at home and on my lunch at work.

I carry a Beretta M 1951 cheap surplus gun. But I feel it could keep up with. With most newer handguns only downfall is 8round. Mag

A good spot between the Stacatto and the P365 is a CZ Shadow 2. At $1200 ish (MSRP) the Shadow 2 costs a lot less than the Stacatto, the SAO version has a lovely trigger and with the added mass it handles recoil nicely.

Singer manufactured 1911s with the original blued finish can go for over $100k. If parkerized, they are still a 5 figure gun, but far less than $100k.

That was the Singer and they are stupid expensive. They made, I think, 500 and they are really prized. The last one I saw for sale was around $5000. Great video.

My roommate and I have a range in the back yard and we host a bullets and BBQ with friends and family. We often joke that some day archeologists are going to dig up the house and say "wow, there was a really one sided battle here".
