This is by far the best how to video on a simple cabinet design for a beginner. I have done framing I have done floor work, sheetrock, trim, but I have never built my own cabinet. I’ve made a built-in dresser, made built-in coat, hanger, closets, Hell I even made a decent treehouse for my kid. I definitely need to work on my craftsmanship to get on my dad‘s level. He was a cabinet builder and died before he could teach me. Great video

Once you learn how to build 1 cabinet, you basically learned how to build all cabinets. The most important thing i can recommend is that you make sure all your saw blades are square to the cutting surface or fence. This will make all your joints tight on your cabinet box but most importantly your face frames. But if some gaps do arise in spots, Bondo is your friend and can make your first job seem like your a pro when done correctly. Im a cabinet maker myself and doing a full kitchen yourself will save you thousands of dollars... Its alot of work though so good luck.

I think this is one of the best viideos on how to make cabinets for beginners. Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to make and upload all your content!! I especially appreciated the "keeping it easy using only a straight edge and a circular saw" Other videos are ok but they use all sorts of fancy gear and I find that insulting, I'm just keen weekend hobbyist with no table saw and a few other basic tools and that's one reason for appreciating these videos. In the UK we often use plastic slot in feet for height adjustment, particularly useful if the floor is slightly uneven, this is also useful if you have a leak and water pours over the floor etc 👀 The front lower edges are usually detachable. I've just finished doing some remedial work to the kitchen by using two unit length and strengthened with fixed shelves, that I found a real bonus because you are not limited to one unit shelf length for storing kitchen gear etc Also my partner put in a curtain spring cord (eyes and hooks) across the tops that has 'curtains' instead of door fronts.. these can be taken off, washed ! and replaced. A nice Gingham blue 👀😃Great vid and as always the beauty of them is how with a little bit of ingenuity you can modify to suit your particular situation with ease. Oh and I got away with the shelf lengths (2 units) using a run of metal rod rebated into the bottom of the shelf to give it added strength. I have to say that the shelves in question rarely have anything of any significant weight on them!! 👀😃Our Covid 19 war reserves 👀- tins, cans and similar are on the bottom shelf supported on the base structure👍

@bbikermama3 жыл бұрын
Just watch the video closely , he carefully explains all the used tools. Also, depending on the thinckness of your wood will depend on the length of your screws. However, if you just go the kraig route and buy a set, the tool guide tells you what size screws to use. Also depending in the size of your cabinet will depend on how much wood you’ll need. Measure the size of your cabinet to be built . Sketch a draft of what it will look like and you’ll be able yo determine how much wood you need.

This video series is great, thanks so much for putting these together! Shaker doors complete yesterday, working on the frames today.. Using these to build cabinetry for our utility room. While I'm building the cabinets, is there a quality paint you recommend? My wife refinished the kitchen cabinets with "cabinet grade paint" from Sherwin Williams a year or so ago, but it's very rubbery and scratches easily. The finish is now awful around heavily used pulls like silverware drawer and doors with cups & plates. I'm hoping to get some advice on a paint that will last before I get to finishing these cabinets. Many thanks!

Could you explain why you recommend putting the cabinet top and bottom between the sides? Is it so that you won't see the end grain if the side of the cabinet is exposed? I'm building cabinets that won't be exposed on the ends and was thinking that if the sides are between the top and bottom it would provide more support for heavy objects on the shelves as the sides would be supporting the shelves, rather than putting all the load on the screws. I'm using a face frame over the carcass and adding bypass doors that run in tracks rather than doors that hang on hinges.Thanks for your help!

Use graphing paper in which each square is either 1ft² or every 2 squares are 1ft² for a larger picture. Most plywood sheets are 4ft(48in) wide by 8ft(96in) long... You can get 4 sides out of one sheet with some extra cut offs to be used as your stretcher or toe kick's.

I love the faster pace. He’s able to cover a lot of ground in a very short time. If there’s a part that you need to go over again for it to sink in (regular occurrence for me!), just back it up and change the playback speed to .75 for that part, then change back to normal when you’re good.

you went to fast but nice job. i wished i had all the tools to make good straight cuts..like a table saw. i need more tools. my cuts with a hand saw arent very straight. LOL

that is not for beginners. for beginners, show how to use circular saw and drill driver tools to make. Beginners dont invest in table saw.
