Holy crap! I remember when Cricut came out and it was all pre-made stuff that would be basically useless to me for scratchbuilding. I dismissed it entirely and forgot about it. But then I saw this video and I'm thinking man, I gotta have one!

To answer one of the previous questions about how thick of styrene will it cut. Last night I did a test with .040 inch styrene with the deep cut blade and it cut it well. I ran it through twice and with some bending, much like shown in this video, the holes came out well. In the future, I think that I might run the cutter through 4 or five times, might be better.

Been looking at these Cricut machines for cutting airfoil ribs for RC gliders when a light went off in my head that I could also use them for making "N" scale buildings. Lo and Behold I found this KZbin where you are doing just that. I might mention that another great program besides AutoCad is a program called Pepakura, which will create a pattern from a 3D OBJ file. You can find Free 3D obj files at this link. free3d.com/3d-models/architecture These pattern files can be imported into the Cricut.

Have you tried the Cricut Maker yet? It is supposed to be more powerful.

Thanks for this video....at least it answers my questions of what it will cut other than paper. But it would of helped if you had answered some of the questions posted here. Another is, from what I understand, you HAVE TO have internet access to use this machine. No access, this is a large paper weight. And how about a tutorial in showing us you drawing something, then cutting it out?
@millenniumf11384 жыл бұрын
That's not entirely true. You can use this machine offline, if you download the design app and use it. The app will accept premade designs. You only need internet access if you want to store your stuff in the cloud.
