Love watching these rail freight trains. My last house I lived in, I used to hear the rail freight trains really early in the morning.

As an American train fan who has taken a lot of interest in British trains over the years, I must say that Freightliner, EWS, and all the rest of these companies do it well especially with those speeds!
@briangriffiths128511 ай бұрын
Yes, they have to keep out of the way of passenger trains on the same routes. The passenger trains often scheduled at 125 mph running so the freight mainly at 70 mph but on electrified lines up to 90 mph.

The British engines may not be as powerful as the American engines or the freight trains as long as American trains, but they do move fast.
@Sidewinder1009oli2 жыл бұрын
Freight in the UK is more limited by structures, distance between signals / junctions etc than by engine power. Due to the number of passenger trains that run, and in a smaller area, they need to run faster or they’d disrupt people travelling too.
@MinegateTransport Жыл бұрын
They have to be small, and fast to keep out the way of the high speed trains as well as normal passenger services, there isn’t room for slow lumbering long container trains

I gotta say your camera work is superb! So many people on YT who have loads videos but they're shaky as hell and erratic on the zoom. But your work is excellent sir! Nice and steady, controlled and well planned zooms and your panning is excellent too. One thing I did notice on this video is the older stock is often double or even triple headed. Is this to do with the reliability aspect or the case that many of the horses may have escaped from their engines over the years?

At First: Great video, good footage. 👍 Second: What is happend in the UK? Cause at least 85% of the footage shows intermodal-unittrains, hauled by Class 66s. Is there no more mixed freight traffic?
@briangriffiths12859 ай бұрын
Very little or no mixed freight these days. Most trains are scheduled services from docks to inland distribution points, quarries to building distribution points, waste/trash collection to incineration plants and the famous Tesco trains from their central warehouse near Northampton up to Scotland to fill the shelves of their big supermarket chain. I suppose intermodal trains are the mixed freight of today carrying stuff in boxes. The car trains from the mini factory in Oxford go straight onto the docks in Southampton where teams of drivers run them into car carriers as though it were the Le Mans 24 hour race!
