Why did SkyTrain chose this system over Bombardier's Innovia Metro Platform for the Canada Line?

I'm not sure why. However I can say this: apparently Rotem has met the conditions that was laid out that Bombardier could not for this project. Also according to the then BC Minister of Transportation, Minister Kevin Falcon, Rotem also had a more competitive price. That's all I can say about it.

The government wants to keep the costs down back in 2009. And also most cities did not agree to build the Canada Line back then, and was only provided minimum funds

Do you know what the two bars between the rails do?

The two concrete blocks between the running rails is a safety feature in case the train nears derailment; innother words, these blocks help keep the train from derailing off the tracks. The track gauge the Canada Line uses is worldwide.

Is it just me or does the Canada Line not go as fast as the Skytrain??

MetroElfren I think that it’s programmed to go slower, Translink says it can reach higher speeds. I guess it’s using different cars as I feel the Hyundai trains are weaker feelings terms of power when riding when compared to the Bombardier Skytrain cars. Also most of the Canada Line is underground so that might be a factor too
