Good question, I think they will replace them with another Hitachi. Like Avanti are doing with replacing their Super Voyagers. But that’s just a theory.

I just to want to comment is. What on earth is GWR thinking by running 2 car Turbo unit on 1F11 09:28 Cardiff Central - Portsmouth Harbour. It is stupid, it’s rammed and full and standing from start to finish. That’s one of the reasons why I hate GWR sometimes. They still haven’t learnt.

As you mentioned the Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central services GWR should be using the 158s not the 165s and 166s

@@maimadha Hi Madeline. It’s not just train class, it’s number of coaches. Even 2 car 158 is still ridiculous, train gets busy after Southampton - Bristol Temple Meads. 2 car Turbos is worst as the carriages are smaller. I do prefer them when they are 5 coaches. Overall 165 & 166 are terrible, seats are not comfortable and not much leg room.

@@maimadha Yes and carriage is smaller then 158, when you go on it feels like you on the bus. I much prefer 158, as their interior they more cosy and comfortable. They have more table seats. 165 / 166 do need a repaint, no idea why GWR still have repainted that blue First Great Western Iivery, way out of date now.
