Continuing my exploration of the southern end of the West Coast Main Line, we look at traffic on Camden Bank from a number of vantage points.

Thank you for sharing the interesting video. Is there any throught freight traffic heading North London Via Camden? Thank you in advance.

There are. Trains passing through Camden Road can go via Primrose Hill or Gospel Oak. Many of those heading up the WCML appear to go via Primrose Hill with the other route being used by traffic heading for Acton or Battersea.

As an ageing student of old engine sheds I found this video fascinating. Great view of the roundhouse and the location of the engine shed. Were you in the Pembroke Castle pub when you made the video? Keep up the excellent work please.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have to admit having a half of shandy in the garden of the Pembroke Castle. Wonderful viewpoint. I was surprised that there was nothing in the carriage sidings at the time.

Excellent video as always. Back in the 70's I worked on the railway at Euston and can remember on one occasion actually being on a train going through the down carriage line tunnel, aka "the rat hole" but for the life of me can't remember where it comes out. 🤓 Well done.

I bet the infrastructure did not look like an abandoned garden then. The Rat hole came out on the down side south of Park Street Tunnel.

Is that were the former Primrose Hill station used to be as the freight train is passing by. And there's still remains of the former railway station. With Camden Roundhouse and Morrisons supermarket in the background.

66148 is on the Chelmsford - Acton freight. Some interesting locations as ever. Pity that today's railway infrastructure is kept in such a dire mess.....

Interesting how the only diesel powered trains that to and fro from Euston are the Virgin Voyagers that must spend 90% of their running mileage under the wires.I wonder how quickly First Trenitalia will change this with proposed bi mode fleet?
@BoogiesTrains
@BoogiesTrains 4 жыл бұрын
A previous proposal to convert the Voyagers to bi-mode by inserting a pantograph car came to nothing. Couldn't work out what Bombardier's stance on it was. Should not have been difficult but costs quoted were outrageous. Perhaps somebody thought it was a guaranteed contract and tried to take advantage of a captive customer. End result is that Bombardier didn't get the contract for the EMT Meridian replacements as they have no bi-mode product already in service.

I though London Overground started using the Class 710 on the Euston-Watford DC Line or are they using them on test run before it starts passenger service.
@BoogiesTrains
@BoogiesTrains 4 жыл бұрын
Some are in service but driver training is still in progress. Also there are not yet enough 710s available for both the GOBLIN and Watford services. On the day I filmed, which was a Saturday, the GOBLIN was closed due to engineering work.

Network Rail seem very poor at housekeeping these days. Lots of greenery that would have been cut back, back in the day🤓

A lot of noise on Twitter today about the need to withdraw the remaining class 43s because they keep running into fallen trees. A risk management expert doesn't agree with me that the trees are the underlying problem. Go figure. The 'new' flyover at Reading is disappearing under buddleia already.
