Trains at Milton Keynes Central (WCML) 24/04/2021

Hello Everyone! As many of you have pointed out already, this video does not include many fast trains due to Platforms 4-6 not being used (Engineering Work). However, I plan to return to Milton Keynes Central soon to capture all platforms. Thanks for Watching and Enjoying, You are all amazing!!😃

Milton Keynes Central railway station serves Central Milton Keynes and the surrounding area of Milton Keynes, England. The station is located on the West Coast Main Line about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of London. The station is served by Avanti West Coast intercity services, and by West Midlands Trains and Southern regional services. This station is MK's primary station, and is one of seven serving the Milton Keynes urban area.[a] Milton Keynes Central, which opened on 17 May 1982,[1] is by far the busiest and most important of these, as well as being the largest in terms of platforms in use, having overtaken Bletchley when platforms 2A and 6 became operational.

I've seen pictures of 66745 on a Caledonian Sleeper service north of Edinburgh. Was this in place of failed 73's or something?

Thank you Jacob. I like Milton Keynes Central, it has a nice mix of everything (319s in the peak as well!) 390119 always adds some colour to the video as well. 😃 I don't wave at train drivers so I'm grateful for any tones. 🚄

Epic morning rush hour trainspotting at Milton Keyns Central. What was happening to the fast lines? Normally, trains would have been flying through the station?

Hi Ricky, this was filmed on a Weekend (Sat) and this particular day had the fast lines closed to traffic so that they could repair track (you can see one of the trains in the distance at 23:00) I plan to go back again soon to gather content when the station is operating normally. 😃

Hi Speedbird, I usally ask the barrier staff nicely, explain my intentions and its extremely rare to be declined entry. Occasionally at bigger stations you may have to sign a visitors book, but, as long as your kind and abide by their wishes, you'll be fine. 😃

Hello easygo147, Platform 3 was in use, Platforms 4-6 were not being used due to Engineering Works

Thank you West Coast Electrics 😃 I use a Panasonic VX1. It’s an expensive camera but the appearance is stunning like you said. Just make sure you’ve got the hard drive space for all the video clips! 😂

The description says the fast lines were having engineering works on them so trains were diverted to platforms 1-3

Normally you are correct! I was not expecting Platforms 4-6 to be closed. The traffic on the remaining platforms was honestly incredible, almost back to back at some points! You can see one of the engineering trains on the right at 23:00.

Yes, I think you are right. If I’m honest, if I knew beforehand that those platforms were closed, I wouldn’t have went! I will definitely be returning to have another go soon 😉

Why are all the Pendolinos going so slowly? ... something wrong with the track or the signals......or did the trains all develop the same fault at the same time? Really slow. Never seen Pendolinos going through MK so slow before!

Hi Rob, to put it simply, they were timed to be slow! Platforms 4 to 6 are the fast line platforms which are usually full of Avanti trains but on this day there was engineering work going on (you can see one of the engineering trains at 23:00 in the background). I fully appreciate that this isnt a good representation of fast trains at Milton Keynes Central, but I feel that there are still some interesting clips/trains. Thanks for watching 😃

The 90s have ultimately returned to the West Coast, the line they were designed for, but, I’m glad that they’re being used at all despite them replacing 86s. Makes a change from the common class 66s I suppose. Thanks 🙂

Mostly London Northwestern Railway and Southern trains serve Milton Keynes Central and some Avanti West Coast trains. Whilst most trains pass through. Including freight trains. Never been to Milton Keynes Central and Milton Keynes.

I’ve been into Milton Keynes a few times. It’s a fairly new town and the roads are organised in a grid similar to America. Similar to most of the west coast south stations, it’s very busy at all times of the day 🙂

On average, Avanti has 3 trains in each direction stopping here. Mainly to Edinburgh, Blackpool and Manchester. There's also about 5-6 LNWR services in each direction every hour & one Southern. MK is a wonderfully unique place and would DEFINITELY recommend...
