Trains at Nottingham - 07/01/2017

Filmed on 07/01/2016. Right: 2015 started on East Coast Mainline, 2016: On West Coast Mainline. 2017 is started from the Midland Mainline.
Nottingham station is the second terminus station from London along the Midland Mainline and Sheffield being the other terminus station.
At this station, we see a variety of East Midlands Trains, Cross Country Trains and Arriva Rail North with services heading towards: Liverpool Lime Street, Matlock, London ST Pancras International, Norwich, Skegness, Leeds, Newark Castle, Lincoln Central, Leicester, Birmingham New Street and Cardiff Central.
Two hours is enough time for a good mix of traffic but no freight sadly through the station but plenty of chances for freight. There was unusal working by East Midlands Trains class 158's as they were working Mansfield House, Leicester to Lincoln services as well.
Something of a popular favorite is the HST but with East Midlands Trains and with their VP185 engines working hard and giving some spectacular thrashing as well.
Please note: 156407 is actually 156406 to Skegness, my mistake adding the captions there.
A good way to start the year away and in new territory.

Something shocks me, The East Midland Train 158's do Longer distances than the 43's 222's and 170's. Most of them are on a long term hire from South Western Railway.

I noticed that as well, 6 hours roughly between Liverpool and Norwich. Although on some services, the 158's would be paired up with a 156 as far as Nottingham. When will the 158's be transferred or if its going back to South Western Railway?

No need to buy a platform ticket to film at Nottingham. As long as you head to station office, you'll need to sign in to film. Stations like Manchester Victoria requires a platform ticket which is only 10p.
