Perth railway station is a railway station located in the city of Perth, Scotland. The station, designed by Sir William Tite, won an architecture prize. It has seven platforms, five of which are "through" platforms. There are two entrances, both of which allow car parking. The ticket office, newsagent and café are between Platforms 2 and 3. The original main concourse was between the current Platforms 4 and 7, and the station was covered by a large overall roof, which still exists in a reduced form. There used to be nine platforms. Ticket barriers are in operation. Perth bus station is situated approximately 100 metres northeast along Leonard Street, part of the A989, from the railway station

As I’ve said a few times, freight is rare in this area and if your lucky you may catch a 68 on Tesco traffic. The weather certainly felt like Scotland! Thanks Ben 😃

The only real change to the station in decades has been the installation of the DDA footbridge. Otherwise it has a fine period feel. There can't be many electro-mechanical banner repeaters left but there's one right there on Platform 2.

So Perth station which is in Scotland on the Highland main line. I mentioned my holiday railtour many times. The charter train stopped at Perth for a break be it going to Inverness or in the other direction, I think I stayed the night in the Lake District. From Perth station, it is quite a lengthy walk to the town centre. It looks like I will be going to Norwich on Saturday 4th February on board the Class 745 train and 'The Electric Scot' ran the full route on Wednesday 26th January between London Euston - Glasgow Central and return.
@StarlifeStudios3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing uhegbu, I have stayed for several nights here several years ago but never really had the chance to film. Its an impressively quiet station considering its size and number of platforms. Is this your first time aboard a 745? As soon as they get the buffet going again, it will be a fantastic service. I was out on Wednesday and 'The Royal Scot' definitely fell into my camera lens 😃 Many thanks for your continued support!

@@StarlifeStudios Yes, it is. The last time I went to Norwich was in 2015 when the Class 90 expresses were in service.

@@StarlifeStudios Perth station is a pale shadow of what it was. It used to be one of the busiest stations in Scotland outside Glasgow and Edinburgh. If the two volumes of Steam in Scotland by W.J.V. Anderson are still in print they give a pretty good impression of what Perth was like in the 1950s and 1960s. Apart from the station itself there was a large m.p.d. on the site of what is now Tesco in Edinburgh Road and at one time there was a second m.p.d just north of the station which had belonged to the Highland Railway.

I’ve wanted to come here a few times but never had time for it. It amazes me how much this station is dead, at one point there was no movement for over 45 mins. I completely stole this idea from you though 😃 Thanks DP!

Great video as always 🤩👍🏽 Perth is an oddly laid out station, being built literally on a junction with the line to the Highlands and the line that swings out and across to Dundee. Great architecture in the main part of the station. Lovely to see those Scotrail HST’s 👀😎 and the oldest working power car 43003 😀🤩👍🏽 43152 on that service to Inverness sounded like a bag of bolts and is probably in dire need of some T.L.C 🤒

@StarlifeStudios3 жыл бұрын
@@Trainspotter4002 Simply put, I only upload videos which are worthy of the standard I aim to have on the channel. Most of the rainy videos have blurry lenses and muffled sounds. There are other weather conditions that have issues e.g. darkness and fog but these (for the most part) are predictable. I have a rainy video coming up soon though which I am happy with. Your Scotland adventure has been incredible to watch so far. Got a station request if that is okay? By chance, may you travel to Harrogate please? Heard there has been some interesting changes in terms of services :-)
@StarlifeStudios3 жыл бұрын
Thank you my good sir 😃 Harrogate looks interesting especially with the semaphores. Is there much freight? How are the services changing? I take it 170s and the occasional Azuma are normal there? Many thanks 👍🏻
@RickyNowis3 жыл бұрын
@@StarlifeStudios There is very little freight through Harrogate. But, there are daily test trains through the station. 2 hourly LNER Azuma services to and from London Kings Cross. Every 30 mins Leeds to York via Harrogate. Trains that left Leeds at **:59 each hour used to run to Knaresborough which it's now extended through to York.

Further to my comments on the Trains at Dundee re the train description information, excellent layout but only on screen for 3.88 seconds, any chance of it being on screen just a little bit longer please?
@StarlifeStudios Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your honest criticism, this is still the same format and duration that I use today. I have trialled even shorter 4s information durations before although I feel that 5s is about right. I agree with you for clips like this since there is plenty of time for reading. However, for fast trains at 100-125MPH, 5s is too long. I hope you can understand my problems.

Ok, so now that SouthEastern have the all 18 707’s they will have until the other 12 lease expires with SWR in August, if you have not already, do London Cannon Street (preferrerably at peak on a weekday as they have not started operations on weekends, I say Cannon St as more are going there than Charing Cross, and only a small number of metro trains go there off-peak)
