Love the background noise.... “Get off the wall!” 5:03 most Dublin thing you will hear. Real Dublin.

3:59 almost menacing the sound from the old 121 class and similar ,its a shame the character was torn out of the railway ,miss these old locos ,so so sad to know my own kids will never experience that sound x

Thank you so very much for uploading this brilliant video, it brings back golden memories of my childhood. You can even hear the kids down on the beach at the beginning without a care in the world. My parents would bring us to Balbriggan beach for the day on the train. The thrill was unbelievable. The sound of the 121s or 141s pulling off into the distance after stopping at "Ballo" is forever etched into my mind. While down on the beach I would climb up the steep embankment to get to the railings visible on the right just past the station, just to watch the trains pass by as I was utterly enthralled by trains as a kid. On the very rare occasion the blue NIR enterprise would stop in the evening and travel high speed non stop back to Connolly station. A very special video for me, I can't thank you enough. Best of luck Gerry.

Great video Gerry. Love the Balbriggan shots. Great to see a freight train on the Dublin-Belfast line - with the gypsums piggybacked onto the rear!

The 071s sound magnificent at power. Such a waste that those Mark 3s were scraped at least ten years too early.

Legend you are for catching all this cool stuff. And first diesel up is 134 now preserved. I'm James the rpsi volunteer you occasionally bump into during trips. Do you have any old footage of north wall station by any chance been used or its sidings been used trying to do research on both north wall station and the British rail hotel.

That was some summer. Saw a 121 once in the mid-2000's - right whe I started commutting by rail. Probably one of the last runs of one. Wondered what the hell it wa because I'd never seen anything like it. On the other hand - the odd time a failed DMU got replaced by a 181 and some coaches made for a comfier commute to college.

The trains in those years had character about them not like the trains now (commuters) I find are boring to look at...

Most people don't know or give a shit about the trains they catch . as long as the train runs on time , goes to where it is needed to, and is clean and comfortable. Enthuiasts are a different breed . I speak as one myself .
