Almost Street Running Trains! 4 Norfolk Southern Trains In Worlds First Electrically Lighted City, Train Goes Over Bridge With DPU Locomotive Working Hard, Trains Going Through The City Of Wabash, Indiana. Huge Auto Parts Boxcars That Make Big Locomotives Look Little.
Norfolk Southern trains on the old Wabash Railroad line in Wabash, Indiana. Two of the four trains have DPUs. These trains are passing through a very historic city and right next to a city street with numerous railroad crossings. Wabash is the first city in the world to be electrically lighted. See the plaque in the video. Check out the old courthouse with the statue of Abraham Lincoln.
I got 2 eastbound trains and 2 westbound trains. The last train has a BNSF DPU in the middle and is crossing over the Norfolk Southern Marion Line. When I was filming the train I did not know that the track it was going over is the same one that goes through the street in Warsaw, Indiana. See my street running video of the street running flying trains of Warsaw. I thought I was going to get a video of a train going under that bridge running northbound. As you can see in the video a train activated the crossing lights near the bridge but then it backed up from where it came from. That train came up to Wabash and reversed onto a spur that goes through downtown. It then came off the spur and reversed southbound out of sight.
Which one of the 4 trains in this video is your favourite? I got 3 manifests and one intermodal. I found Wabash on Google Maps and I liked how the main line went through town just a block from the county courthouse and runs right next to a city street, almost street running.
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Friday, August 23, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

@@nimblehealer199 that was pretty much the city. The courthouse grounds was the square. Also, Wabash was nowhere as big as it was then. There were less than 4,000 people and you could easily walk to the fields that surrounded the town in just a few minutes. Things were different then. At the time the world considered it fact.

Brush's carbon arc bulb. Still have tons of family there! Thanks for stopping by jawtooth! Great train catches! This is the old Wabash railroad Lafayette to ft Wayne line. On the curve on the east end of town they can switch over to the Marion district and go to or come from elkhart or continue to Chicago or go the opposite way to new york. That is the NS Marion Branch going under the Huntington District on Hill St. Also that was L-46 switching an industry in downtown Wabash, That was probably NS 121 going over the Marion Branch. NS has made many symbol changes so I could be wrong, It could be something else.

Charles Brush's company also had a UK subsidiary that made railway locomotives. Among others, they designed the BR class 47 locomotives in the 1960s, and built many of them, though the company was no longer owned by Brush by that time. To this day, the class 47 remains as the most-built type of British diesel locomotive, though most of them have been taken out of service. About half of the ones that are still in service have been rebuilt with EMD 12-645 engines, as used in the GP39 and GP49. Brush Traction is now owned by Wabtec.

This was a good day of railfanning in Wabash, Indiana, Jaw Tooth! You caught four trains in Wabash and the headlight and ditch lights of a fifth train. The last train that you caught running through town with all the 86-foot auto parts box cars looked impressive. Thank you for taking and uploading this video for us to enjoy! Oh cool. I saw a neat train this morning. It was going fast and I couldn’t tell what was on the first locomotive. It was hauling CN passenger cars

Unfortunately you never see the 8 door 86' boxers, I think their all out of service.

I think you're 100 years too late to see the Wabash Cannonball passing through.

Listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar As she glides along the woodland o'er the hills and by the shore Hear the mighty rush of the engine hear the lonesome hobo's call As you travel across the country on the Wabash Cannonball

In western brogue there are pullers on the point, helper hogs are mid-train and pushers are the last iron horse you'll see
