All footage I captured back in the year 2000, when I was still in elementary school! NO quiet zones! No E-Bells! Back in the day when the railroad was fun! This is 5 years before KZbin existed, and was originally intended for personal use. So sorry for the extremely shaky camera work and excessive talking throughout the video.

This happened back when Metrolink got incandescent crossing lights and Safetran mechanical bells, especially the San Juan Capistrano station crossing along with a WRRS bell. Now all Metrolink crossings have Dialight Ball LEDs, along with electronic bells, especially WCH or Safetran.

I saw a video, can't remember who took it (I think it was mdamttc199) but it showed one of the first fleets of Surfliner Bi-Level cars in New York in the snow being transported to California.

What? They Had Metroliners In California?

Yeah, they used to use them before the Surfliner Cars entered (which was right around the time this footage was filmed), but around late 2001 to early 2002, they were completely removed from SoCal after they were deemed unsafe after a Surfliner Cab Car hit a fully-fueled crawler at a crossing, and from a huge ensuing fire, was completely destroyed. But because of how the Surfliner Cabs were designed, not a single person on board the train was injured or killed (the driver of the crawler was sadly killed, though). The Amfleet Cab Cars obviously couldn't do the same, so they replaced them on the surfline with NPCUs to make sure any similar incidents would also not have any on-board deaths.
