That's a nice little crew change area. I guess they need one as this is one of those frequent crew change places :) That second train had some 5-car train sets - that is very cool. They are used for the smaller sea vans and they are fewer than the regular size ones. Very nice random catches :)

This makes me feel old, because when i was their age i stood by the tracks and watched the coal powered sream engines pulling coal cars to the port in Norfolk.

Nice Welcome Pad and Nice Yellow Stairs f/Crew Changes. Never seen prefabricated set of stairs placed in this manner but Nothing but the Best UP Railroad. 😬👍

Probably because it’s safer to change cruise at that location then at the Bakersfield depot because of the surrounding neighborhood

The office is actually in a pretty safe, well lighted, and secured area, and most crew changes happen there. This also gives BNSF crews a place to change should they be held out of their yard due to congestion.

Rumor has been Combined Railroad will be Named something like CPKC. CP Railroad keeps Canadian HQ and Kansas City, MO, remains as the American CPKC HQ. 👍

I actually didn't follow all the hoopla, but I guess it did. It's supposed to be CPKC, or KFC (just joking), or something like that.

Hey Mark, just had a curiosity, but do you ever take your KTM on some of the roads that you filmed from your truck? I would like to take my jeep up there that’s on my bucket list and I don’t have a heated seat either. Lol.
