Fog creates striking, captivating, and interesting views along the train tracks. With trains appearing, and disappearing from the mist, it makes for some stunning and memorable views. Thanks to some interesting conditions this winter, we had some unusually foggy days, and some train trains to see in it!
In this video, we'll see a bit of everything train ops wise in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area. Trains emerging from the mist with almost zero visibility, transfers screaming past, freshly rebuilt locomotives, and action on the mainline! The fog made for some great and memorable times to be along the rails.

The Minnesota Commercial has gotten VERY hostile towards railfans. Let them flip me off; I didn't do anything wrong. Thanks for watching!

Great job! I love fog and get to work in it trackside from time to time and it's so surreal, especially at 2am and everything is quiet and still. Nice camera work too! Cheers Gregg.

That must be a unique, and interesting experience to work in that! I've been on a train in snow, but never fog yet. I can only image what its like at 2am. Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for watching!

Love watching ditchlights popping out of the gloom. Enjoyed the upclose look at the CN SD70ACC. Great looking catches! -grant

Glad you enjoyed the video - it was a fun few days out along the rails! I should dig out my BCOL footage; those units had double ditch lights and looked neat. Thanks for watching!

Appreciate the feedback! More such as the lights at Silver Lake Road, New Brighton, and places like that? A video about signals is in the works. Thanks for watching!

Is that a little sag in the frame on the RRVW unit at 2:45? I wonder how much longer it has left?

Whats that CP engine at 3:13 ? Did the TCWR rent it? just wondering because i have seen CP power on TCWR trains before.
@SD457500
@SD457500 3 сағат бұрын
That appears to be an AC44, and was likely off of an ethanol train. TCWR gets CP power on a regular basis for that type of traffic, so its not all too uncommon to see. Thanks for watching!

Later Production SD60M’s, SD60I’s, SD70M’s, SD70I’s, SD70MAC’s, SD75M’s, SD75I’s, SD80MAC’s, and SD90MAC’s all have that certain EMD Wide Cab Style with the Teardrop windshields and stubby noses. They are great.

5:14 Interesting to see a train car carrying what looks like junk. I suppose it's probably scrap metal?

You are correct! That came from a place in North Mpls, and those types of cars are seen on a semi regular basis. It's always cool to see what sorta scrap metal and junk are in them. Thanks for watching!

Yeah those were interesting videos on the Hiawatha line and only one remaining Mill that still operates there but you never did say or if you know what caused all those Mills to shut down and it's really a shame of what happened to that great line.
