Man quits job to shoot more videos for his devoted fans. I can see the headline now. Great video again.

Very nice video! That looks like a great place to shoot. I'll have to go down there sometime.

+Yard Limit Auburn Station and Kent Station are both nice in that they have a parking garage right there so parking is easy, covered overpass for shooting on rainy days or getting to the other side of the mains easily and benches on the platforms so you can sit down while waiting. Good view of signals from the platforms as well which helps you determine if a train is coming. Disadvantage is the platforms aren't very wide so you tend to get an exaggerated closeup view of trains as they pass.

Cool. I love having signals in view. It makes the video more dramatic.

If you have a trash train, how do they dump the cars?
@SeattleRailFan8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Moses The containers used for garbage are standard shipping containers with the roof removed. This allows them to be loaded easily with a front end loader. They have canvas tops that cover the load during shipping. At the landfill, the containers are lifted off the well cars and put on a regular trailer chassis. Trucks drive them up to the top of the hill where the landfill proper is located. There, the trucks back onto a platform at the edge of the landfill. Hydraulics tilt the whole platform up, dumping the garbage out the back. The trucks take the containers back down the hill, the empty containers go back on the well cars and the whole cycle repeats again.

What would you say is a good spot (quantity of trains) to railfan in the Seattle area?
@SeattleRailFan8 жыл бұрын
+VanCityRailfan Man, most of the places I taken videos at around the area have plenty of trains. Olympic Sculpture Park, S Horton St crossing, Ballard Locks are all good. Train stations at King Street Station, Kent, Auburn, Edmonds, Mukilteo and Everett all work well.
